How do I control the Bose Portable Smart Speaker?

Within Wi-Fi range, you can control the speaker with your voice (without using your mobile device) or with the Bose Music app. Outside Wi-Fi range, you can control the speaker with your mobile device via Bluetooth.

What music services can I use with the Bose Portable Smart Speaker?

You can play popular music services like Amazon Music, Spotify, and Pandora anywhere you’ve got Wi-Fi. Everywhere else, you can use Bluetooth to listen to anything your mobile phone or tablet can play. Apple users can also use AirPlay 2.

How does the Bose Portable Smart Speaker compare to the Bose Home Speaker 300 and Bose Home Speaker 500?

They advertise WiFi AND Bluetooth connectable.....but you can't have them at the same time......like you can on any mobile phone......so you have to go through a complicated disconnect from one to get to the other one. Typical Bose software that never works well ALL the time.

Great Room filling Sound but..........

Firstly the sound on the Bose home Portable is fantastic. It can easily be played in large rooms and fill the area with rich sound. I've played various types of Music and it gets the sound across in big bass whilst maintaining a clear treble. After comparing this to other speakers on display at a retailer I was convinced that the Bose was the winner in my mind.
Now leads to a small gripe,the software or app by Bose is rather underwhelming. Not being able to receive or make phone calls is also a little bit annoying considering it does have a great inbuilt Mic.I can only hope that Bose improve on these small in inadequacies later down the track.
Overall it is a rather hefty price to pay but I'm glad I have this beast of a speaker. Just be mindful that it has some bells but not all the whistles it really could potentially have.

Very Bad Bluetooth and wifi connectivity. For 499 $ speaker is not fun.
I bought this thinking it is boss will be the best, sound best clarity best base, but it is just another wireless speaker. Not that good sound as compared to Bose quality.

The worst part is the connectivity with Bluetooth and wifi is pain very slow and irritating. Sometimes it takes 3-5 attempts to connect. My 20 $ Bluetooth speaker connects in seconds.

The you tube connectivity is also slow mouth movements and voice will not match.

Overall it is just another blue tooth speaker with very slow connectivity nothing Bose about it

Quality of sound is good, but had to reset a couple of times because google assistant stops working. My google home mini understands me much more reliably.

For the price I was expecting a more reliable speaker. Latency is bad even though connected to wifi with strong signal. Spotify doesn't support crossfade wich is a must.

Other than that, no problems with it.

Looks good, sounds extra good, but oh my gawd what a temperamental item to work. Even Bose app cant find it, much less Bose Connect!. Google Home with Assistant sometimes will work it. Google Home will list it but not show it. Sometimes I can play music from my Huawei mobile on it. Each new day brings a new surprise as to whether it decides to function as I want..... or not.
Overall when it's working it's a great mobile speaker.

Great sound quality for the size! Not tinny at all. Really happy I did some research and chose this one. I had a few issues connecting to a different Wi-Fi than my own, but my Son did it in seconds. No trouble at all with initial set up in my own home. This is a dream come true for anyone over 50 because we used to have to tape songs off the radio! Now we have every song imaginable at out fingertips that we can just 'magic to a great sounding speaker.

Just go to the nearest store and listen to Bose Portable Speaker yourself, then compare its sound with Sonos, JBL and other brands. If you like how Bose plays music, then buy it. You'll love using it every day and features it has to offer!
Don't make judgement by watching youtube video reviews or by listening to someone saying that Sonos etc sound better. Decide for yourself after checking it out live.

Good sound quality through Bluetooth. Wifi connection slightly slow.
Alright to hear the home player on its own. However when you connect to another Bose speaker, it drastically drains the battery to just over 2 hours play.
