I use these Bose speakers as part of my laptop setup for web design and simple video editing. Useful having the volume knob on the front. The speakers are quite slim, look good and don't take up too much room on the desk. Great value and great sound.

I did not buy these for my computer and I would not unless I attached a very good DAC like a 'Audioquest Dragonfly' of something similar.
These new speakers are my mini system comprizing a Chord Hugo MK 2 and the source is an iPod (WAV)
I didn't bother buying a Yamaha or even a Denon mini system-even Cambridge Audio was out of the question as these speakers are HiFi standard with of course the updated components I have.
So buy these Bose speakers for your music.
You will not be disappointed, especially at $169.

Worst speakers I have ever had
Reviewed in India on 7 January 2019Verified Purchase
I have always dreamt of possessing Bose speakers and recently purchased these speakers which proved to be hopeless addition to my desktop. I have got Creative Bluetooth speaker, a JBL Go and even a Chinese powered ampli-speaker besides several headphones and earphones. These Bose speakers are among the worst in terms of volume, sound quality and effects. I am really ashamed of falling into the trap of hype created by Bose loyalists. I am not hoping that the seller would take them back so have just removed them out of my sight by packing them away. :-(

Bought these for my LED TV. Glad I did. I had been listening with a tiny sounding built-in TV speakers for far too long. Connected the Companion via preamplifier(ART Headamp 4) These speakers sound great. Full, rich, lifelike sound. I recommend these 100%. you won't be disappointed.

Finally, affordable Bose speakers for the PC!
Reviewed in India on 2 August 2018Verified Purchase
Finally, Bose speakers which I can afford. I have purchased these speakers for a little home studio of mine and am pretty satisfied with the result. The sound is definitely better than generic speakers but also not as great as other expensive bose speakers. Still, the absence of a woofer helps minimize the space required on the computer table. The aux and headphone connectivity is also a very useful feature. The design is very basic, but that's okay as the cost is also low. You can find better speakers at the mentioned price but if you are brand conscious, then you definitely should go for it

If you're a good listener and can distinguish sounds mixing on a record, you'll hear them all.. Too satisfied
People who sat on my system and played a song asked where its woofers were.. they were amazed to know what these little speakers could do.. go for it and don't worry the tag..

Lack of base is felt. Cannot replace bookshelf speakers
Reviewed in India on 14 October 2018Verified Purchase
I bought these companion 2 speakers as a replacement speaker for my audioengine A5 plus bookshelf speakers(bought cheap when it was still available in india), which were too big for my desktop. Since i owned soundtouch 300 hometheatre and QC 3 headphones from bose i thought these from the same family would perform well if not as good as my A5's,which were 3 to 4 times expensive. Boy was i wrong. I dont know if i got a defective piece or not but the sound quality of A5's were way out of league. The A5's have incredible base without a bass module. The vocals in the A5's where much more lively and there is a lot of background instruments which doesnot even get noticed or separated in the companion 2's. The background in companion 2 is muddied a lot(dont know if i got a defective piece).
To give some credit, the bose companion 2's are better than a lot of cheap speakers out there in terms of high's and mids but the lack of base is felt. But in the end the size of drives does matter.
those who have given 5 star rating for these speakers are missing out on a lot.
Verdict- If you want best sound quality and have a decent deskspace go for a powered bookshelf size speakers, otherwise go for a 2.1 system for the same price
