I found this a well balanced book. As a 60+ male who has spent life in jobs with many gay people this book demolished the Christian attempts to change gays through what Rachel Gilson has described as unbiblical ways. I found her suggestions about identity very helpful and we in the evangelical church need to become comfortable with the term "gay Christian."

Product description
Review
I thank God for Rachel Gilson. She has written a book that is both a biblically faithful and a very personal explanation of and rationale for what the Bible says about human sexuality. She writes to all of us, but especially to those who deal with the pain and confusion of same-sex attraction and sexual dysphoria. She knows this pain from the inside. So while she addresses these issues with theological carefulness, she does so with tremendous compassion, helping us to see that Gods design for sexuality really is very good, merciful news. --Jon Bloom, Co-Founder and Board Chair, DesiringGod
This is a brilliant book by a remarkable writer with an astonishing story and a decade of theological training. It offers no glib before-and-after narrative, but is a practical guide for sinnerssame-sex attracted and otherwisewho dare to believe that Jesus is the best lover. I wish I could have given it to my younger self. --Rebecca McLaughlin, Author, Confronting Christianity: 12 Hard Questions for the World's Largest Religion

Refreshing, honest, helpful, challenging.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 March 2021Verified Purchase
Born Again This Way is the best book I have yet read on the topic of same-sex attraction, from a biblical and lived-out perspective. Honest and vulnerable, clear and biblical, loving and true, this book is simple to read yet fresh enough to get the reader thinking about this topic from a new perspective, since the author is living out, on a daily basis, what she is writing about. A wonderful resource for those wanting to know how to counsel and befriend those who desire to follow Christ but still struggle with same-sex attraction.

Definitely recommend Rachel's book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 September 2020Verified Purchase
This book is well-written and I recommend it highly. Rachel has excellent answers in response to those who may feel their same-sex desires are from God, or that God loves them as they are. This is a must-read for anyone experiencing same-sex attraction, and for those inside and outside of the Church who are trying to better understand the struggle.

An honest book

I've read both sides of the argument so it's nice to read one that spans the two. I like her honesty and vulnerability and her grounding her conclusions in scripture.

Worth the read, and the re-read

Challenging, loving, tough and embracing— in short, Biblical. Gilson has written one of the best books on the Church that I’ve read to date. Yup, the Church. This book is about all of us. I’m recommending it for my church library, and I’d joyfully recommend it to a non-Christian friend as well.

A Must Read for Christians With Same-sex Attractions
Reviewed in Mexico on 6 March 2020Verified Purchase
Finally, it has been written! The book every christian struggling with same-sex attractions needs to read. If you’ve set your hope in Christ, you will find it tremendously encouraging and helpful. There is quite nothing—especially for people with this struggle—like feeling understood, and this book made me feel understood like no other. May the Lord use it for his glory.
