Simon is leading an ordinary, somewhat drab and lonely life, when he's suddenly pulled into a fantasy world where he's a hero named Patrick, in a dangerous quest with a centaur, minotaur, elf, and water spirit, among others. Afraid to admit that he's not Patrick, he bluffs his way through, and his innate decency, guts, and intelligence and up turning him into a true leader and even the hero the fantasy world needs.
Recommended for those looking for a feel-good but not cutesy or sentimental fantasy.
Simon Kent doesn't have what you'd call friends. He doesn't often go to a show. He doesn't have a cell phone or a home computer. He has never owned a car. He doesn't have or do these things for one of two reasons; either he prefers a simple life without all the complications of technology and interpersonal relationships, or he is the Knight Lord and warrior hero to a fantastic world of mythological creatures and magical arch enemies. For the life of him, even Simon isn't quite sure.
