Product Description

A Thriller Award winner, Best Paperback Original Novel.

For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive.

After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice—and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead. Despite colleagues’ doubts about her mental state, she resumes her role at Homicide. Her new partner, Detective Uriah Ashby, doesn’t trust her sanity, and he has a story of his own he’d rather keep hidden. But a killer is on the loose, murdering young women, so the detectives have no choice: they must work together to catch the madman before he strikes again. And no one knows madmen like Jude Fontaine.

Could not stop reading once I'd started. It's a roller-coaster of emotions. You take the ride along with Jude; feel her pain, laugh at her joy. Please read this book, it is truly one of those that don't come along too often.

Wow, this book really impressed me. It certainly has one of the best openings to a story that I’ve ever read. You can tell straight away that the Author has a talent for writing. I can also see why so many readers have given Anne Fraser 5 stars for her other books, thoroughly deserving. It’s hard to imagine being locked away for 3 years in the dark, and what it would do to your mind. Detective Jude Fontaine somehow managed it, and quite quickly got on with her life and back to work. Her enhanced senses have given her a very unique set of skills as a detective, and certainly sets her apart from her work colleagues. They don’t know how damaged Jude is after three years and whether she is up to the job anymore. A stand out for me is that every character is quite interesting, and I enjoyed the detail the Author has put into each one of them. There aren’t enough words to describe how much I enjoyed this book. This is a must read.

Well written, good strong storyline and well rounded characters. A edge of your seat thriller, with who's the bad guy thrown in.

Loved the writing style and the characters. Could anybody read a body? No. Plot completely unbelievable to the point of being insulting. The heroine was kidnapped and the kidnapper we are led to believe had been stalking her for ages. Turns out he was "asked" to kidnap the girl at short notice. Lurches from one ridiculous scenario to the next with no explanation nor details. Seriously give it a miss. It makes no sense at all.

I would readily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery. The story kept me enthralled. I felt it was very well written with believable main characters that were easy to like. My one small criticism is that I would have liked to see the heroine use her 'body reading' skills more often. Still, a very good read. Well done to the author.
