5.0 out of 5 stars BEST MILK FROTHER EVER!!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 April 2018
I am absolutely blown away by this unassuming little glass milk jug! It makes the most incredible froth for my cappuccino, and it comes out perfectly every time. I also like my drinks VERY hot, so the automatic milk brothers failed miserably every time on that front. After watching a YouTube video of someone making froth wit this Bodum, I decided to give it a try and it is incredible.

I think there may be a knack to it, as I followed the YouTube video and it works perfectly every time and the key is to start with COLD milk. Place about 100ml of milk in the Bodum and insert the plunger. Do about 50 little mini plunges at the fastest pace you can manage comfortably (you don't take the plunger out of the milk, you just do mini pumps within the milk level). After you have done about 40-50 or so, the milk has risen slightly and the plunger comes out with a bit of cold milk froth on it.

Now for the magic!!! Take the plunger out and wash it then put the milk jog in the microwave. 45 seconds in a 900W microwave makes the milk and froth rise to the VERY TOP, so watch it as it easily overflows. When you take it out, you have THICK foam like cream (see pictures of this mornings delicious offering).

Highly highly recommend for anyone who likes hot coffee and thick foam!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's great whilst it lasts!

An amazing frother - admittedly the first one I've tried - but as I am just getting into coffee that can be expected. As some other reviewers have mentioned, you don't need to put as much milk in as it suggests (I kept having to use huge mugs to keep all the froth inside).

So why am I giving this only 3 stars, I hear you ask? Well it was amazing, until the bottom fell off.

I've been washing this by hand and have been using it pretty much everyday. I got this maybe 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I was warming up the milk in the jar, as usual and I heard a crack. When I poured the milk into my coffee, I noticed a large crack pretty much circling the entire of the bottom of the jar had appeared.

Well, I knew that wasn't going to end well, but I thought perhaps it was superficial.

This morning I got a message from my flat mate letting me know that when they picked it up and poured some water in, the bottom fell off. It took them a while to realise what had happened as of course, this isn't something you'd expect.

So, I can only think that either I was heating it on too high a temperature - but I mean it's supposed to be glass? Or, perhaps some water after washing was still on the bottom and causing some damage when the pot was heating up.

The glass didn't seem thin to me, so I'm uncertain as to why this has happened.

So final verdict - it's great, whilst it lasts. I would buy it again (although luckily my other flatmate has a coffee press, so we're just going to use my lid on that) but don't expect it to last long.
