The Bodum range line was complemented with these fantastic milk frothers. The silk plastic lid has a deep rim to prevent foam from escaping through the spout. The plunger handle has a comfortable grip and is pleasant and smooth to touch. In less than 30 seconds you can easily whip your preheated milk into the airy foam, only a Bodum milk frother can give you. After you have served your guests, you can put every part of the milk frother into the dishwasher. Capacity: 0.25 liter.

I think there may be a knack to it, as I followed the YouTube video and it works perfectly every time and the key is to start with COLD milk. Place about 100ml of milk in the Bodum and insert the plunger. Do about 50 little mini plunges at the fastest pace you can manage comfortably (you don't take the plunger out of the milk, you just do mini pumps within the milk level). After you have done about 40-50 or so, the milk has risen slightly and the plunger comes out with a bit of cold milk froth on it.
Now for the magic!!! Take the plunger out and wash it then put the milk jog in the microwave. 45 seconds in a 900W microwave makes the milk and froth rise to the VERY TOP, so watch it as it easily overflows. When you take it out, you have THICK foam like cream (see pictures of this mornings delicious offering).
Highly highly recommend for anyone who likes hot coffee and thick foam!
So why am I giving this only 3 stars, I hear you ask? Well it was amazing, until the bottom fell off.
I've been washing this by hand and have been using it pretty much everyday. I got this maybe 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I was warming up the milk in the jar, as usual and I heard a crack. When I poured the milk into my coffee, I noticed a large crack pretty much circling the entire of the bottom of the jar had appeared.
Well, I knew that wasn't going to end well, but I thought perhaps it was superficial.
This morning I got a message from my flat mate letting me know that when they picked it up and poured some water in, the bottom fell off. It took them a while to realise what had happened as of course, this isn't something you'd expect.
So, I can only think that either I was heating it on too high a temperature - but I mean it's supposed to be glass? Or, perhaps some water after washing was still on the bottom and causing some damage when the pot was heating up.
The glass didn't seem thin to me, so I'm uncertain as to why this has happened.
So final verdict - it's great, whilst it lasts. I would buy it again (although luckily my other flatmate has a coffee press, so we're just going to use my lid on that) but don't expect it to last long.
Here is what I do to get the perfect froth which holds for ages - I've even left my coffee for 30 mins and the foam is still there and hasn't sunk
Use whole milk
Add milk to jug to below the marker line.
Heat in microwave on top strength for 35-40seconds. It will be very warm - doesnt need to be super hot.
Remove and add in the plunger / lid
Now this is the important part in order to get a fantastic foam - only pull up the plunger to the top of the milk when you start pumping up and down really quickly. So you only ever 'pump' the milk. Don't go above the milk into air as this is just wasted effort and will result in flat foam.
Pump really quickly for around 50-60 goes. You will see it double in size really quickly.
Lift plunger out and tilt so that all the foam goes into your cup.
Take a very large tablespoon and spoon out the foam onto your coffee. It actually looks very creamy even though its just whole milk
Good luck - I now love making coffee for my fella, its like a bit of fun and magic at the same time. Am considering buying others as presents.
The good thing about this contraption is that you don't have to rely upon electronics which break - just good old fashioned manual power :-)
