Product description

Review

“Sylvia is a natural raconteur and a wonderful cook.” —George Day, Blue Water Sailing magazine

“Far more than a cookbook, this is Sylvia’s celebration of sailing, delicious food, and the good life afloat.” —John Kretschmer, author of Sailing a Serious Ocean

“Wow! A cookbook from Sylvia. I have never tasted Sylvia’s cooking, but she is fairly intense, intelligent, and likes to live well, so I suspect it will be a good book.” —Bob P., yacht designer

The Boater’s Cookbook is a thorough and detailed compilation of a complete boater’s galley from necessary gear to delicious recipes, interspersed with entertaining stories of the people she and her husband Stanley met during their years of cruising and the places they voyaged to, all wrapped up in a must-have book onboard or at home.” —Bob Bitchin, founder of Latitudes & Attitudes magazine and TV, publisher of Cruising Outpost magazine --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book arrived damaged but appears to be a great cookbook for a live aboard cook!

I gave 5 stars for the content if the book. The recipes seem to have fairly simple ingredients although a few might be easier to prepare at dockside since I might not carry all necessary ingredients on board at all times. And the beginning of the book will be invaluable for it’s content concerning the organization of the galley and stocking the pantry. I have read a few pages already and I know that it will be a resource that I will refer to often in the future. Thank you to the author Capt. Sylvia Williams Dabney!!! My only disappointment is the condition that the book arrived in. It was in a bubble wrap type plastic sack. Unfortunately it was somehow damaged in transit, I assume. I have posted pics showing the cover dented and slightly torn and the pages beneath the cover damage are damaged as well in two spots. That is very disappointing considering I purchased the book new, not used or damaged. The book is still usable despite damage so I don’t want to be bothered with trying to return it. However, I would not say no if the seller might want to offer a small discount off another book in the future! :)
