I don't know how to put down in words how amazing this book is.
I don't know how Sooz does it. She tops herself EVERY time.
The series just keeps getting better and better.
So much happened in this book and so much more to come. I'm so glad I started this series. Magnificent.
This is definitely our beloved Baeduans book, we got a lot of face time with him which was so good. To be fully in his head for this leg of the journey was very interesting and made us see a lot more about him.
I'm glad we got that glimpse inside him, we certainly understand him more after Bloodwitch. As well as just falling disastrously more in love with him. My poor beautiful confused boy.
Although this was Baeduans book, our other faves are not neglected.
Iseult has a much bigger part to play in this book too. We get to see both sides of her and Aeduans interactions, as well as her thoughts when it comes to Owl. I loved having more time with Iseult too. Felt her character was a bit on the back burner the last couple of novels, but she is much more prominent in this book.
Vivia. She was glorious. She might very well be my favourite character from the Witchlands, I love her that much. To me, she feels like she was a big player in this book. A lot is going on. I'd best not gush for too long, but just know you're gonna love every chapter with her. She is so raw and open and strong, you won't want to put the book down when you get to her chapters.
I could say a lot more, but will contain spoilery thoughts. I just need to gush to someone about theories!
A lot happened in this book. This is going to be one of the stories you'll stay up all night reading not wanting to miss anything in this world.
Please read Sightwitch before Bloodwitch too!! Super important to the story and you'll enjoy this series a whole lot more if you've read all the content.
Bloodwitch was everything I didn't know I needed in this series.
A freaking MASTERPIECE. Easily the best book of the year.
I feel so many things. I have laughed and cried and smiled and hurt and hoped and dreaded.
Incredible. I just want to immediately reread this beauty. I know I'd notice even MORE things a second time around.
Please give this series a chance. You'll love it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It took me a while to get around to reading this book, and it completely exceeded all my expectations. After reading Sightwitch, I was intrigued by the new back stories, my mind spinning with lots of new theories. However, having spent over a year away from many of the characters in the series, I wasn't sure I'd be as invested in Bloodwitch. It didn't take long for me to be proven wrong though. Once I'd started reading I couldn't put it down, with every chapter bringing something new I didn't see coming. I gasped, laughed and cried my way through the last few chapters, surprised by an ending that was satisfying and sets all the characters up SO WELL for the next book in the series, whenever that may be.
Very enjoyable read, pulls you onwards towards the crescendo and leaves enough loose ends to tease you with the possibilities of more. The manner of the characters coming together at the end was a little out of the blue but did not detract from the story.
Bloodwitch is an absolutely incredible book and I loved getting a deeper dive into the characters and the lore of the world. As always Susan Dennard writes beautifully and I'm convinced she just gets better and better each book. Can't wait for the continuation of the Witchlands series
Review Bloodwitch is the stunning new installment in Susan Dennard's NEW YORK TIMES bestselling Witchlands series. While admittedly, the first two and a half books in the series have been solid reads, Susan Dennard pulled out all the stops in her newest book.
Picking up where Windwitch left off, Bloodwitch follows the ensemble cast introduced in the series with a focus on Aeduan. Characters in this book get significant and well-deserved character development, especially one of my new favourites, Vivia. One of the best parts of this series is how interesting and well-defined all the characters are. At the heart of this, of course, is Safi and Iseult's friendship. There are just not enough books with female friendships depicted in positive ways that the Witchlands series is a breath of fresh air.
Unlike many books that alternate between multiple POVs, Bloodwtich manages to balance the viewpoints in a way that I did not skip entire chapters to go back to the views of certain characters because I enjoyed all the perspectives.
Bloodwitch is the third book in a series, so you probably have some familiarity with the world and Susan Dennard's writing. If you've read some of the previous books, know that the writing in this book is even tighter and better developed. You can tell the author has improved tremendously as a writer, and as a result, the book was an absolute treat to read.
Consigliatissimo!
