This is a stomach-churning, gripping thriller. It pulled me in from the very beginning and did not let go. The characters are unique, and the setting is vivid and claustrophobic. I adored the roller coaster mother-son relationship, and the locals' hostility really cranked things up. The book ended well (but left me queasy). I'll be seeking out more by Gerritsen.
The book moved quickly and I was glued to every page. I found myself sneaking a read while working and had to read on waking, while commuting and before sleep. Tess' characters we realistic and dimensional and the storyline had me guessing to the end.
