I agree with some of the other reviewers that feel Tess Gerritsen's style has progessed since this early book but it was still very good. Her writing style is fluid and moves along at a good pace. I felt the main characters were well developed and as a reader I could empathise with them.
It was a little bit gruesome in places and there were a few times I was unsure of the direction the story was going in but it had me keen to know what would happen next.
I'll certainly be reading more Tess Gerritsen stand alone novels while I'm waiting to clear away all Rizzoli & Isles TV memories from my mind :-)
This is not my favourite from her but it is a pretty enjoyable read with lots of facts and interesting science included.
I rarely give five stars, but I reckon this one is worth it. Top notch in its genre.
Bloodstream has a clever plot that involves weaving many inter-realted stories from the past and present and from the various families in the town to gradually bring to light all that is behind the mystery. Tess has to explain the science behind what is causing the outbreak of violence in the town of Tranquility whilst keeping in mind that most of her readers won't have a science background and she does this very well. I like that the perspective of the very young the adult and the elderly are all considered and that there is a good balance between suspense, love story, tragedy and light humour.
I have still to read the final chapters but so far this novel has been engaging, well thought out and beleivable. I will definitely start up from where I left the Maura and Isles series now and get reading The Killing Place.
I would recommend this to any crime fiction fans and especially to those who haven't read Gerritsen before as they will want to read her other books having read this one.
Plea to the author: Can we have another book featuring the characters in Tranquility please?!
I enjoyed the way Tess Gerritsen writes so much I'm now on my 3rd book by her and these are just as good.
This is the first Tess Gerritson book I have read and I look forward to reading more.
I decided to try it as price for this book was very good.
This is a brilliant book, good plot, suspense, lots of medical terms, enough of gruesome bits to it... if you like all of the above you will not be disappointed with this book.... I am sure I will move onto other books by TG ...
