2078. The Future, as it was once called...

A better time you imagine? Most would say yes.
Jordan would say they’d switched one evil for another…

Ever since the SDCT – the Scientific Department for Cancer Treatment – made a scientific breakthrough, creating a cure for cancer and therefore saving billions of lives from the cruel disease over the last few decades, the world seems to be a better place.
But the Cure came with a side effect. The Recipients need to consume human blood along with it, and as Jordan has the rarest blood type, she needs to donate every week. To keep a tight legal structure between Recipients and the rest of the population, the FDR – Federal Division for Recipients – was created, making her job as Sergeant at the NYPD hell on earth.

The real trouble, though, begins the day she becomes burdened with a case that will force her to extend the law to its limits. Worse still—the new Lieutenant, Aiden Davis, has set an eye on Jordan, and it doesn’t help that he is an unrelenting, too-hot-to-be-allowed ex-marine and more intense than she can bear. But her past makes it impossible to get involved with anyone without resurfacing memories of the one fateful night she desperately wants to forget.
And when the one man she had never wanted to lay eyes upon again—the man who had inflicted pain on her worse than anyone could ever imagine, the man who had drained her until there was nothing left—shows up once again, her growing attraction toward the new Lieutenant seems to be the least of her problems…

Enjoy this blend of Dystopian Romance, Cyberpunk, and Romantic Supsense!

I love futuristic books and this was no disappointment!! I can't believe that this is the authors FIRST book!!!
This has everything you could ever want in a book, well written and developed characters, with great backgrounds. The storyline is one that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book!
When a "cure" for cancer is found, the power the corporation who control the drug, are able to control everyone's lives, who receives the "cure", who doesn't, who answers for their criminal activity and who doesn't.
Jordan life has been traumatic so far. After a sickening and brutal attack, she moves to another town to start again and try to rebuild her life, keeping her secrets close to her chest.
Aiden has joined the NYPD and is her boss. He has his own secrets.
When Jordan starts investigating a case, her and Aiden become closer and both will need to learn to trust each other in order to survive the storm coming their way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!! 17 April 2017

So, I had the opportunity to receive an ARC from the talented Elodie Colt and I just wanted to say thank you for the chance to review your great story. You frickin rock!

Okay, now to the review.

This book wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be, and I mean this in a positive way of course! This is first Sci-Fi Romance story I think I'ver ever written, and I think this genre just gained a new fan.

In Blood We Trust had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. It started off exciting and ended just the same.

There was kind of a lull in the story where it seemed to drag, but I can only chalk that up to me being nosey and impatient. I wanted to know what was happening at all times, so when the story took a second to explain and give background, like every story should, I was like, "F***!" *insert eye rolls*. This is in no way reflective of the story because it is truly amazing, I'm just an impatient b***h.

In Blood We Trust is riveting and exciting and oh so frickin sexy. I loved the futuristic idea because it made me take a look at how the world is now and made me wish I was in 2078.

And Jordan and Aiden were amazing together. I was rooting for them from the moment they were introduced to each other. It was great to see their relationship develop the way it did. Jordan comes across as this badass, because she totally was, but it made it that much better to see how hard she fell for Aiden.

Overall, I loved everything about this story. It had everything! It can make you cry, laugh and wet at the same damn time. And ain't nothing wrong that!

This is definitely a must read story! So buy this book!

I received an Advanced Reviewer Copy of this book and am happy to leave my honest opinion and review. It was fantastic. The premise of the story intrigued me, but the story itself, I can honestly say pulled me in from page one, and kept me turning the pages to see what happened next.

I felt like the futuristic aspect of this story was very realistic. It was subtle, not overdone, which helped add to the realism for me. Then there was the idea that, in the future, the cure for cancer is not without its own side effects, which turn people into virtual, real-life vampires, and not in a sci-fi kind of way. I also found it so believable the way that the agency who created the Cure kept the money coming in, so typical of that industry as we know.

Then there was the romance. My favorite part of any good story, the Romance in this book was just the right amount of build-up. It wasn’t “insta-love.” It took them some time to work up to the good stuff, and the good stuff was very good!

There was a good amount of depth to the characters in this book, especially the main character/heroine who we follow from start to finish. Her past and how it shaped her as a person, I felt was consistent throughout the book, and I felt like there were several things that made her very relatable. I was able to really sympathize with her and like her from the get-go. The stakes were set high immediately, and I was rooting for her to succeed from page one.

I also found the pacing of this story to be just right. There was not a single point in this story that I can remember feeling like it was lagging in any way or wanting to skim over.

Overall, this book is well worth the read. This is a book I can see myself rereading again. Very good work and well-deserving of every one of the 5 stars.

I received this as an ARC from the author. I voluntarily decided to leave a review. This is my honest review.
Oh gosh this was such a good read, it was brimming full of action on every page, you could imagine life being just like this in years to come and it was scary how true to life this could be.
There was some violence and sex scenes in it but I feel this made the book so much more intense than if they had been left out and added so much more to the storyline. I was pulled in to this book from the first page and read it right through until gone 3 in the morning, there was no way I was putting it down until I'd read it all!
The story brings out so many emotions in you because you feel so much for Jordan, she's been through so much yet still can't trust or let go of her past. The prologue says it all and more, it had so much left unsaid and to your imagination you just had to find out what happened.
She is such a strong character you feel a bond with her from the start. I've not read many futuristic books but this has something in it that's real and a different slant than the last futuristic book I read, both brought out so much in my imagination and left me wondering what if.....
Aiden is the Lieutenant and he has an instant attraction to her, Jordan is sworn off men especially ones she works with but that doesn't seem to stop him from trying. Jordan refuses to be worn down no matter what her feelings, after what's happened in her past, she's kept it to herself, she can't tell anyone or they to might be in danger like she is, always looking over her shoulder and never feeling safe, it's locked away and she is scared of it resurfacing and her having to face it again she just isn't strong enough.
She hates the system more than life itself having to give blood every week to help keep recipients alive, some are luckier not having to "donate" as often but with her blood being rare she has no choice. It's so unfair and she thinks the system should change, it's not a "donation" it's forced and if she doesn't turn up she'll be fined our worse her life is ruled by it, not being able to sleep in or drink alcohol the day before, her blood has to be prefect for those that need it.
She hates that people are being kept alive because of the "Cure" how can it be so good if the only reason you're alive is because you drink someone else's blood? She hates seeing people drinking the blood and it makes her nauseous seeing it, not understanding how others aren't bothered by it she tries to keep her feelings to herself and only a few friends really knowing.
This book had my head reeling there was no let up in the action, you were second guessing every character wondering who's side they were on, and as Jordan was you were wondering who else was involved.
The characters were brilliant and there was so much detail put into the book you could see it happening in your mind's eye.
God the second guessing I did not trusting anyone along with Jordan, she felt trapped and has to do this one case that was asked of her, even if it wasn't really police business the last lieutenant had passed it on to her so she would see it through, she just hoped she'd be alive to see it ending.
The characters had depth to them and were "real" to me as I was reading it, crying when I couldn't hold it any longer, I felt on the edge on my chair the whole time I was reading the book, my nerves were frayed by the end but omg what a read, this is one book I will read again and again. This author is one to watch, and for her first book she did a phenomenal job.
I really hope she writes this as a series. It is a stand alone but this is one that I would love it being made into a series for me to follow the characters as they grow. But that's me just hoping it carries on with it being such a brilliant read. It's a long time since I've lost it in a way I did reading this book. I was there with Jordan, the hairs on my arms were standing up, and I had goosebumps all over me reading the details of what was happening, holding my breath with everything crossed that the good guy comes out unscathed, but never really knowing until the very end who truly wins.
She's done so much to the characters that they are real, you can see them in front of you and you know how Jordan's mind works by the end of the book, or you hope you do. My god if I could I'd give it ten out of five! It is in my favourite collection now.
If you don't read any other book this year and you are 18+ and like action, mystery, dystopian romance type books read this one! You won't regret it I promise.
5.0 out of 5 stars There's ALWAYS a price for the Cure 5 April 2017

This story was not what I imagined after first reading the book blurb. However, it was definitely worth the night of sleep lost, because I just had to finish it asap! The female heroine is strong despite her past and grows stronger with the aid of a loving man.

Set in the year 2078, the world is finally free of Cancer thanks to Cure. There is a price for taking the Cure, those who are recipients must drink blood human from donors. The FDR – Federal Division for Recipients – was created to supply recipients with the Cure and have the rest of the populace donate blood regularly. Sergeant Jordan Lively, is made weekly donor due to her blood type being AB negative the rarest type. For Jordan the FDR is nothing but a drain on her life and job, all she wants to do is make sure the evil and scum out in the world is put behind bars where they belong. Jordan's specializes in Rape and murder cases choosing to work alone. Her past is what motivates her drive for the victims, but when Jordan's finds herself in trouble the new Lieutenant, Aiden Davis, may be the person to help her heal and fight her worst nightmare.

Overall, great new futuristic story! The concept for this novel felt like Soylent Green meets iRobot. Thinking of a world without cancer would be absolutely amazing. So on a darker note having a Cure that turns out to be a semi-villain for this novel, was a great twist. Even the whole donor and recipient thing was intriguing, especially for me since as a person with a rare blood type I would sooo not enjoy this world. Now one of my favorite features of this book was how the author approached Jordan's venture into dating Aiden. Jordan was a victim of a brutal assault (as seen in the graphic prologue) and for her to ease into having any sort of a relationship was wonderful to see, because I've read one to many books where the girl meets a guy and just hops right into bed like it's easy and in reality it takes time and trust. I also just really liked the male lead, Aiden, and his easy presence in Jordan's life, wish I had someone who just supported me so easily with my craziness. So if you're ready for a future world where the world is a balance of donors, recipients, cops, and mystery, than this story will intrigue you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic futuristic GEM of a story! ❤️ 6 April 2017

I received an Advance Reader Copy for In Blood We Trust by Elodie Colt and voluntarily reviewed this book. Sergeant Jordan Lively's past was marked by a horrific experience, which has shaped her career with the NYPD, catching murderers and rapists. Her department was just assigned ex-Marine Aiden Davis to replace the retiring Lieutenant Patrick Flint, but before saying farewell and starting his retirement, however, Patrick secretively asks her to investigate just one last case for him discreetly. When a murdered female is found in the park, it sends chills down her spine and hardens her resolve to solve this case as well. She finds herself suddenly having to balance her private life with fending off advances from a co-worker, investigating very troubling cases, and finding herself being pulled into Lieutenant Davis' very mesmerizing orbit.

This author has created a smart and freshly futuristic, yet still thoroughly practical and realistic world, where many individuals are rendered utterly enslaved by the unprecedented outcomes of a globally launched medical cure. The storyline has many creative and interesting plot layers, with detailed development of characters, paralleling the slow-burning, very sexy chemistry between Aiden and Jordan. I will definitely will keep my eyes open for all new offerings from this author!
