Product Description

In the training grounds of central New York, the vampire queen waits with her army to destroy those who rise against her.

Somewhere hidden in a Brooklyn neighborhood, a girl is kidnapped from her home by the queen’s second-in-command.

Against all odds, the fringes of an ancient, unpredictable power makes Ria too strong for her own good; her secrets make her a target for the resistance; and the off-kilter world throws her into a band of misfits fighting to right it.

But the monsters are the least of her worries if she can’t get her shit together. If only someone had written a handbook on how to be undead.

5.0 out of 5 stars "I feel like my future crumbles around me." 10 December 2013

I love a good series. I do understand that it's not unusual to not really get into a series until the second book. Generally you have to get through the first one where the foundation is laid to really get to the good stuff.
Not so with this book.
Just an amazing opening scene. She had me at the car scene, and the way that scene concluded freaked the daylights out of me. I was hanging on every word throughout the rest of the book.
This had a unique plot and memorable characters. I seriously felt them come to life and I still keep thinking about them. Ria, Boden, and James, I am anxious to see where their stories lead.
I will say, this is my first experience reading about a leprechaun, moreover a leprechaun that stole my heart. Actually all three of them stole my heart.
Very well written, I cannot wait for the next book.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fast paced, fully loaded introduction to the supernatural. 16 December 2013

The first installment of Ria's story is so high speed it almost makes the reader dizzy. Most first books spend a lot of time working a chronology but Alisha yanks you straight into her hidden world with mind boggling speed. You'll end up with a sense of living it yourself. The events in this book happen so fast, one tension after another, that you can't help but connect with how indignant and breathless Ria must feel. Right off the bat you'll love some characters, hate others, and miss the ones on the periphery. The mark of any great author is the ability to make the reader feel a variety of emotional connections to the characters and events in the story. Alisha has done an amazing job with this, and leaves you wanting more, more, more! A truly entertaining and relatable story. Brava!

I was hooked before the end of the first chapter!! Alisha does a great job painting an image of the characters in your head and a way with words that made it really hard to put this down!! It is very well written and I immediately wanted to re read it as soon as I finished it the first time! I had a mental image of the characters throughout the entire book that made it fun to read as well! I absolutely cannot wait until the second book is ready! I'm dying to know what happens next!!! I'd give it ten stars if I could! :) a definate must read!
4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Fangs 31 October 2014

I received this book from the author and from 'Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock'. This is my honest review.

This is the first book of the "Broken World" series by Ms. Costanzo. The second is "Blood Phoenix: Claimed." This book is not meant to be read as a stand alone. It is a paranormal novel that delves into the making of a vampire outside knowledge of the vampire queen.

The writing is tight and the plot well thought out. There are a few flashbacks in this book. The flashbacks are confusing at first because how they're introduced into the story. Once it becomes plain how they occur, it's easier to understand how the flashbacks advance the story.

The book begins with Ria being kidnapped by Eugene (Gene). Then the book backtracks to two weeks earlier. Ria's backstory is revealed on how she became a vampire. She struggles with idea of killing her blood victims as to leave no witnesses behind to alert authorities about the existence of vampires.

To her disappointment Gene is called away, but he has sent a friend, a very tall Scandinavia leprechaun who hasn't had sex in a long while. He tries to glamour her then woo her. Ria is not having any of Boden's shenanigans. Other problems are occupying her attention. Her roommate Ari has also been sucked into her vampire world and has to figure out how to protect her.

Then Ria is kidnapped again. It appears Ria is becoming a popular vampire fore all the wrong reasons.

Ria finds not only that there are vampires and leprechauns in the world but other supernatural beings as well that don't take kindly to vampires. Hell, her own kind aren't doing her any favors of late. Fortunately Ria has powers that only a few close friends know about or have guessed.

Being a vampire is not easy. Having to follow the rules that you think are wrong makes it harder. Developing feelings for someone that already is possessed by a crazy vampire is even harder. Oh, that crazy person just so happens to be the queen of the vampires (i.e. Ria's queen now).

This book does well to reel the reader into to the not so friendly world of the paranormal. Be prepared to take your time reading this book because the story is complex. It's easy to become confused by all the characters and their motivations. All in all, "Rebirth" is an exciting read. received this book from the author and from 'Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock'. This is my honest review.
