Product Description

This is her shot.

Brit has the chance to make history by being the first female goalie to play for an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. So, when she is introduced to Stefan, the Gold's captain, she is determinedly not interested.

Stefan is sexy, charming, and has a publicly documented list of conquests a mile long. Brit is unwilling to risk mixing business with pleasure, even when that business is wrapped up in a six-foot-plus, gorgeously muscled package.

When management pushes Brit and Stefan together in an effort to gain good press for the beleaguered team, Brit finds that her carefully calculated disinterest doesn’t mask her body's desires. The more she falls for Stefan, the more she risks her career.

Will she be able to have it all—a starting position and the heart of the captain? Or will she lose everything?

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Puck-tastic Stars!! 26 February 2016
By LJ Nelson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I have one of my #bookbesties to thank for introducing me to this author. I freely admit I know next to nothing about ice hockey but this book was flamazing!! I was completely engrossed in this story and characters from start to finish.

Brit Plantain has finally made it! All her hard work and perseverance over the years has earned her a history-breaking goalie position in an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. Brit puts all of her focus and drive into making a starting position; she doesn’t need any distractions. Distractions, for instance, in the form of one delectable, Stefan Barie, Team Captain.

“Funny, charming, athletic – a trifecta of temptation…..”

Stefan has been a bit of a boy in the past, but his focus this season should be on rallying his team and repairing their reputation. Plus, the stresses he’s dealing with at home. Not on the feisty blonde goalie who has captured his attention.

Following an ultimatum from management in their quest to try and bring the team some good press; Brit finds herself in a relationship of sorts with Stefan. What happens when the lines between fantasy and reality become blurred? Can Brit deny her ever growing feelings and get the man and dream job?

I was metaphorically on the edge of my seat reading this book wondering how it would all pan out. Quite a few choice words were directed at my kindle whilst reading it; FYI, don’t read in public #justsaying (peeps may think you’re cray-cray or maybe that’s just me!).

This story has it all; MCs battling inner demons, requisite bad guys/girls (don’t even get me started on Jessica – grr!!), amazing secondary characters, thrilling sports sequences and off the charts hot smexy scenes with one of the best book boyfriends I have come across in a while. Don’t you just love when the playboys fall and fall hard?!

I fell in love with this author’s writing and you will too!!

Note: Copy kindly received from author in exchange for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars A neat take on hockey...I liked it! 26 February 2016
By TracyVin - Published on Amazon.com

***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own. ***

We meet Brit as she’s entering her first day with the San Francisco’s NHL team, Golds. She is nervous being the first female player to make it to the NHL. She’s hoping to make a good impression on them and make her dreams come true. This is when she meets team captain, Stefan. He’s a hard worker and really level-headed on the ice. He might not be the best player in the league, but he’s a good captain. And he likes to play within the rules, even if he wanted to bend them for Brit.

There are things beyond either of their control that might make or break their relationship as well as the team. Many secrets that need to be told before any real progress can be made. I liked these main characters, they felt like people you’d know or would like to get to know. I also love a few of the side characters. I really liked Diana and Max and Dan. This book read much faster than I thought it would and I just wanted more from everything. More side character development, more knowledge on the back stories. Just more! Is that a bad thing? I would think not.

Ms. Faber has already established herself as an amazing world builder as well as an amazing character developer. She’s already informed us that this is a part of the series, but each story is a standalone. Ms. Faber has yet to disappoint me with anything that she’s put out so far. (Not that I’m looking for her to!) So would I recommend this book? Yes, I would. It’s an interesting perspective on hockey, which I’m unfamiliar with, but seems she is QUITE well versed in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sports romance that breaks the genre mold! 28 February 2016
By Mama Reniazen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I am not kidding when I say I enjoyed this book so thoroughly that I neglected to get enough sleep in order to read the first half, then didn't do much of anything the next day while I finished reading. OK, that's not entirely true because I did organize a bookshelf, but thanks to narration I was technically still reading at the same time. Blocked reminded me why I enjoyed watching hockey with my Dad so much when I was younger (yeah we were in Dallas so we had the Starz but they had a time when they were pretty good about 16-18years ago! lol) It's an intensely competitive sport and fights often break out. I've never really gotten a behind the scenes look until I read this book. Elise Faber has poured a lot of herself into this one, being a hockey player and fan too, and I greatly enjoyed the wealth of information that was provided to enhance the reader's experience. Plus, Brit is the kind of girl I want to be best friends with. Stefan was...*fans self*... a book boyfriend like no other, he had the typical male thoughts but a totally unusual, and most admirable, reaction and way of handling certain situations. There were some dark parts to the story that added depth without being triggering, though for some people they still might be uncomfortable, so be warned about the fact that you might experience some feels. I definitely did. Blocked not only made hockey sexy, it made me feel like I was in the thick of it all- action, romance, drama and life lessons included. Grab your copy and hold on tight! ***heat alert level 4-- get a cold towel fer ya neck***
So basically I can not decide I am so back and forth between 4 and 4.5 stars on this one, just grab yourself a copy and enjoy!

***arc provided for my honest opinion***

5.0 out of 5 stars Hottest thing on Ice 26 February 2016
By BusyMommy - Published on Amazon.com

Blocked is the story of Brit. She is an amazing goalie who just got the chance of a lifetime... To play in the NHL for the San Francisco Gold. She has busted her ass her entire career to have a chance to play with the big boys. And well they are hockey players, so they are all big. :) (get your mind out of the gutter!) When management tries to force Brit and her hunky captain Stefan together for a publicity stunt things get a little complicated. Even more so when she actually starts to have actual feelings for him... Can she keep her walls up, and make management happy? Or will her efforts be blocked?

It’s no secret that I am no stranger to the romance genre. And to be quite honest, it’s a little hit or miss as a whole. That is the great thing about Elise Faber... It’s a hole in one every time! Okay, I know that was not a hockey euphemism, but I never claimed to be good at sports, so... :)

This book was such a fun read! I read it in one night. I kept thinking to myself, “OK just one more chapter.” Then something would happen and I would tell myself that I couldn’t stop there! But I loved it! Blocked is such a great piece of writing that you cannot tear yourself away. There is a little something for everyone: joy, sadness, despair, hope, trials, good ole’ ass whoopin’ needed moments, screaming at the book moments, and my personal favorite... Not realizing that you are smiling while reading moments. You have to admire the way Elise Faber can break your heart, and make you laugh in the same sentence.

I have been a fan of Elise’s since Sara sent me Phoenix Rising. After starting that series, I knew that I was hooked and would read anything Elise would dangle in front of me. And to this day, I have NEVER been disappointed.

Faber’s writing not only makes you feel like the characters are going to be joining you for Thanksgiving, but she also makes you genuinely feel for them... Whatever their plight may be. Her writing will make you want to strap on skates and take the ice with the team. Which I can tell you is not always a good idea in real life, and may or may not end up with a heating pad and some ibuprofen. :)

All in all, I give book a 5 out of 5!

Elise Faber has the story telling prowess of Scheherazade, and I cannot wait to see what tale she spins next.

Happy Reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Game of Love on the ICE! 27 February 2016
By Maria - Published on Amazon.com
Okay, we all know there has been a female goalie that played for the minor league, but to have one actually called up to play in the NHL…I personally wish it would happen, but until that does happen, I will have to be satisfied with reading about it in fiction. And what a story it was! Blocked by Elise Faber was a great read and I loved the fact that the female lead was a strong woman who could stand tall against the bigger male players of hockey.
Winning and getting a spot on the team was everything that Brit hoped to achieve, but what she wasn’t expecting was the attraction (aka sparks) between her and the captain of the team. Before she knows it, people believe she is in a relationship with him off the ice and she is forced to fake it. But is it really all fake? She finds herself falling for him and she isn’t too sure how he will feel about her feelings. He has his own issues and is trying his hardest to help his team, but even he can’t deny there is something there.
Will they be able to work through it? Will they be able to find a way to be together? Blocked is four stars and I recommend picking it up. You won’t be disappointed! I can't wait for the next book!!
