Therese would really enjoy being able to go on adventures and have fun. Unfortunately, her mother is ill and she has to run their hotel with almost no help from her father. He's good at telling her what to do and is contemplating her future. All she can do is live from day to day and try not to get too tired.
The author shared this ebook with me for a review (thank you). The book has been published and you can get a copy now.
She's friends with the blacksmith but he never seems to see her as a woman. Still, having a good friend is what she needs if she's going to keep her sanity and the hotel running. As they dance around each other and try to decide how they really feel about each other, her father is trying to arrange a marriage for her. He picks one of their countrymen who needs a wife and is rich. Therese has no desire to marry him but she can't say no to meeting him.
When Hunter finds out about it, he's upset. He tries to run off the other suitor and that just makes Therese angry. But before things get worse, a snow storm hits. Therese and Hunter agree to take food stuff out to the outlying cabins to help the folks that can't get to town. Of course, the other man says he's going along, too. But he gets lost.
Therese gets her adventure and very nearly dies from the exposure to the cold. She also finds her love and that's the best part of the story.
This was a very pleasant read and I enjoyed it a lot.
Well Sarah Christian has a 5 star book here in Blacksmith's Christmas Bride. I fell in love with the insert info before I ever got the book and waited in anticipation and it did not disappoint or let me down in any area. This is a well written descriptive historical story about a girl out west during gold mining strike times whose parents were new to America, could not speak English, depending on her to cook, clean, and essentially deal with the Americans in this small western town where her father had built the Hotel, that housed them, acted as a small diner in between nights, and of course earned the family their living that supported them. Therese was a Romani girl, & even though Hunter had to smile at how her father had indeed used his Romani ways to go about building their hotel, without plans and money really, just paint, lumber this soup bowl that bed that he built the hotel with what he got, so it was a charming sort of place that some thought it was built like that on purpose, but Hunter smiled as he had seen a lot of it take place. Therese, had been best friends with the largest and one of the best looking men in town for several years and they did everything together. She even enjoyed going over to the forge and slip in while he worked it would be hot, his shirt off , him sweating and his hair slicked back and watched him as he pounded on the hot metal in the fire, his muscles worked like nothing she had ever seen before. This awareness which she realized was more than just how a friend would feel, came upon her as she watched Hunter the blacksmith while standing in the back smitty. This story has characters that are in other books of Sarahs' and an upcoming one, and it is a clean read where teenagers & up can read it. I don't want to SPOIL anything so I'm just going to make the rest very short: Parents don't even carry their dirty dishes off from big public dinning room/. Dad meets a Romani man getting ready to send off for a mail order bride ( whose got a ranch and money, and comes from Romani, like them speak s their language) Therese feels absolutely NO SPARK with Jack, who let's her know her father basically ok'd marriage between them. Now, can she get Hunter to realize she is a woman for him to love not just a buddy friend to go to parties with and play chess. Hunter knows about why Jack is there and has come to the realization, that not only is Therese a woman that needs help with her daily work because she is worked under, that he wants to be that help for the rest of their lives! He loves to her but how can he convince her to see him as a man and not just a sack of flour. He gets advise but is it good advice. A snow storm happens and the town is cut off from everything and anything not to mention people. So an Emergency Plan is put into place, IT IS A DELIGHT TO READ ABOUT HOW THE TOWN'S PEOPLE COME UP WITH THE WHOLE IDEA PLUS THE LITTLE DETAILS, and the town members who suggest great things and pitch in. To complete the emergency plan, Hunter volunteers and Therese also too stubbornly, and then so does her Dad's pick Romani Beau Jack. This whole invigorating adventure takes place just days and nights before Christmas Eve! I just loved it, and will read more of Sarah's books, for sure! I AM LEAVING IT UP TO YOU, THE NEXT READER TO DISCOVER HOW THE TWO MEN IN COMPETION FOR THE SAME GIRL ALONG WITH THAT GIRL, were able to handle the the harsh cold winter conditions traveling and that to, how did they travel? After all, it was completely dark by 5:00 pm; what were they to do then. Get your copy and I don't think you will be disappointed! I am planning on getting this in paperback or even hardback maybe; it is a NEW DEFINITE CHRISTMAS READ FOR ME EVERY YEAR!
Therese is a very devote daughter who has taken over the running of the hotel her parents own single handedly. Her mother is too ill and her father since he does not speak English very well does not want to deal with the hotel guests. When Jack (as Therese calls him) from the old country comes to town and buys a ranch and raises Cattle, Therese's father meets him at the General Store and he thinks this is a sign that it is time for Therese to get married! Therese on the other hand has her sights set on Hunter the blacksmith! Who will win Therese's hand? Jack or Hunter? You will need to read this wonderful story from Sarah Christian to find out!
This was a wonderful quick story. It was perfect for a dreary afternoon. I loved the characters. They were strong but gentle at the same time. The hero (Hunter) was perfect hero to fall in love with. Therese was perfect as well with her hard work for her family.
If you want a great clean read, you won't go wrong with this book.
