I loved this story and It gave me an insight into the lives of people during hard times of the wars in England between the Catholics and Christians. It was very informative and kept me spellbound to the end .Very well written.
Although this book was A part of a saga and I hadn't read book 1 it didn't matter. This book was a good story in its own right. I really enjoyed the way it was written and getting to know the Kilcannon family and the way they lived and the hardships they faced. I would like to read book 1 & 3 to learn more about this family saga. It gave a good insight into Irish history and Irish politics without being too preachy or political and it was all about acceptance and the indomitable spirit that can't be broken. I thoroughly recommend this book.

I picked this up when it was a freebie right before Christmas. I had no expectations but from the first page, I found it hard to get into the story. The characters, while well-written, didn't excite me. I also found myself lost, as I didn't know what was going on. A tad disappointing but I figure I just wasn't the right reader for this one.
Dear Ms. Cates, I have been reading The Black Falcon's Christmas. I have been greatly enjoying the complexity of the characters and the plot development. However, you had one of your characters cus using God,s name to convey anger. This is wrong. This offends Him and me. I know, with your skills, you are able to express emotion without doing this. Please consider this. Sincerely, Kathleen Roy
Do not read this book until you have read its predecessor. Only then can you truly appreciate the emotions exhibited by the entire Wylder and Kilcannon families. You will more readily understand the struggles and embarrassment Maryssa experiences as she tries to find her place as a young wife and mother in a family that only grudgingly accepts her. You could read this one as a stand-alone since the author spends considerable time and space to explain the back story, but you would still be missing a lot of details that add depth and understanding to the tale. You will be moved to tears as Maryssa marshals all her courage and makes an extreme sacrifice in order to restore her husband to his beloved family. This is a Christmas story, after all, so you can expect a happy ending...though this one is a little bitter-sweet.

I liked the fact that this was an extension of the first story, and yet at the same time a whole new story line. I already liked the characters of Maryssa and Tade from the first book, but I loved how this finally brought some closure to Maryssa with her father and also with her father-in-law at the end. It was still fun with all the twists and turns making you wonder just how in the heck there would ever be a happy ending, but in the end it was definitely well worth finding that out.
