I rad this book in one setting as well I looked him up on google. This man callously preys on women and to think that he is ontinually operating in the same way today. Mary has produced a wonderfully frank decription of how for six (i think) years she was married to this bigamist. He ha operated in the USA and England, jailed in both countries, but is now free and using his psyopathic ways to charm his way into innocent woman's lives.Beware.

This book is a informative account of Mary's live with hime and the outcome of such an exsistance.
Well worth a read, could help a lot of women who might be in a similar situation.

This is a story that has happened to a number of people, but is so calmly told. It takes the reader through all that leads up to the experience and then leads the reader through just how the writer discovered her 'husbands'' activities, through to how she managed to steer the way through a most traumatic time. There are numbers of others who have had to deal with the same type of scenario, but few accounts so very readable. Highly recommended.

This true story, these days the true stories are usually more engrossing than the fictitious, had me spellbound from the first page. I couldn't put it down until I reached the last one. The simple writing style added to the ease of reading and digesting this amazing story. At first I was puzzled by the author's patience to the point of being ingenuous. But when she explained the concept of conversational hypnosis, it all become clear. There was nothing this man wouldn't do to achieve his diabolical plans. And, yet, originally he appeared so gentile with many amazing abilities. He obviously had deep spiritual problems where he was as much a victim as his hapless victims.

This is the power of this unforgettable story where it leaves the reader conjecturing on this man's motives and nature long after the book has been read.

Although this is hard when men prey on vulnerable people, who maybe don't have any significant people in their life. I am inspired by her spirit to bounce back and become a really strong role model for her children and for her power to speak up.

An amazing story about a loving person being deceived by another person with no empathy. I've been in a relationship with a narcissistic person and the parallels with the lies, deception, statements of love, financial abuse, control, and bullying are uncanny. But for Mary to find out after 6 years of marriage that she's in a relationship with a bigamist, and convicted paedophile is a story that is incredible and takes abuse to a level very few could comprehend.

I’ve only given 2 stars as the story made me somewhat angry with the author. Why would you put up with a partner not turning up for an arranged date/dates & then contacting you days or weeks later is beyond me. I mean for goodness sake, he didn’t even turn up for his wedding & she forgave him !!! Has she no self respect....and despite all the let downs, and there were many, she actually married the moron. I’m sorry, but after arranging a date & not turning up, after the second time I would have written him off, end of. It seems to me she was desperate to have a man in her life come what may!

I want to start this review off by saying that a lot of people won't (and thankfully) haven't been in an abusive relationship so they will struggle to understand this story, but those that have will absolutely "get this" book and what this author has been through. Its not a woe is me tale its a real gritty hard and factual retelling of the events that happened with her bigamist husband.

The pressure she must have been under with two small children, no money, no husband a huge web of lies and deceit to pick apart and see through she is a testament to her spirit that she is still here and functioning at all. As a reader you can spot it because; its presented in a factual way but try to imagine for a minute that her life isn't a story telling, she was living this life; sleep deprived and being told from her (what she thought was loving husband) was facts as a psychopath he would have got her believing he loved her (would you doubt your husband?) And people don't realise he didn't just come straight out with this fanciful tale, it was drip fed bit by bit, inch by inch until she didn't know which way was up from down.

Positively recommend this book keep a day free and sit down and read its impossible to put down, i would love to know how the author is doing now and if she does release another book updating the reader to her present life i will be first in the queue to buy it.

Well I have to give credit to Mary Turner Thomson for being able to put pen to paper about her awful ordeal
I believe and understand how she was completely taken in by this man.
This is just another form of Domestic Abuse based on emotional abuse and these scars never fully heal in
my experience.
Anyway I read the book in 2 sessions and thought I will Google William Allen Jordan and low and behold he was
deported from Britain after serving a couple of years in the UK and went back to New Jersey and started
the whole process of luring single mothers with children into relationships for money. He was sentenced in to
3years imprisonment after being offered a plea deal...So probably back out doing the same thing again.

At the last count he had 13 children with eight different women!

I feel for Mary and all the other women's ordeals because as Mary says taking people at face value is what most
normal people do...but unfortunately some people are just ready to take the goodness out of people and use it to their
own ends...

I did gain a lot from reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who needs reassurance after being being
in an emotionally abusive relationship that things can only get better...even though it may take a while.

It was well written but due to the subject matter and the fact that it was a true story it did drag on a bit whilst we learnt how she was sucked in and duped. I liked reading about her finding out and linking with his other victims and felt this element could have been expanded more. I saw this lady speaking about her experiences in Oxford last year and she spoke about some interesting stuff that wasn't in the book which was a shame e.g. how he deliberately damaged his feet to make it look as if he'd been in the desert for several months and also about the informal 'club' that she and his other victims have now formed. I'm glad that the women eventually got some kind of justice but feel sorry for the kids who'll have to get their heads around the situation.

I recently saw the author on stage with Jon Ronson doing a show called 'The Psychopath Night' which was inspiring and entertaining. As a presenter she has the ability to tell her story with honesty and humour - quite an amazing thing considering the ordeal she was put through. Reading her book is rather like watching a train crash in slow motion - you are cringing (and even crying out 'No!') throughout but simply can't tear your eyes away. I couldn't put it down and read right through to the wee small hours. Her story is a cautionary tale to all who date (not just online dating) and all who are in any kind of relationship to beware that abuse can by psychological as well as physical - and that psychopaths really do live among us and hide in plain sight!
