Liz Gilbert demystifies the creative process yet manages to celebrate it as both a divine gift worthy of our love time and attention, but paradoxically encouraging us to do it lightly with great joy and irreverence , unencumbered by heavy expectations. She encourages us to " have a go" follow our hearts inquisitiveness and not be held back by anyone or anything. She is an extraordinary voice in a world often largely indifferent to our art - but encourages each and every one of us to express ourselves anyway - if nothing else we'll enjoy the discovering of Big Magic in our lives, and she may have helped many to face their creative fears and unblock the things holding us back . I predict a world wide surge in creativity lol - this lady oozes love and humility and great joy .

Are you a gardener? Or do you like to do a little sewing sometimes? This book encourages us to value our own creativity whether we are writing a great novel or just painting the garden furniture. I love Elizabeth Gilbert’s books. In fact I think this is a far more interesting book than “Eat, Pray, Love.” I love her idea that we don’t have to strive for perfection when we’re creating things. Instead we should accept that our creation will have some faults but nevertheless we should go ahead and create it because creativity is so satisfying and so very human.

A book read at the right time and place can be so healing, and this was for me. Loved it. Loved the conversational style, the nuggets of truth and pearls of wisdom. Loved the stories woven through the fabric of the book which dripped with positivity and oozed charm, humour and a joyousness in life which sometimes we forget in the craziness of this world. An absolute inspiring delight to take the bull by the horns and get creative.

This is likely one of the best books I've read in years. Not in the sense that it uses the most beautiful words, has the grandest ideas, best pep talk or stacking amounts of research. No. It's purely a creative talking to another creative, on how to create without guilt and beyond fear. It shows you how you can pursue your creativity, in fact, creating things is our purpose on earth and if we let fear, guilt or doubt stops us, then our lives fails to fulfill its purpose.

So if you have urges to make or create things, to write a book, launch a business, or whatever the hell it is that you dream of doing, but haven't found the courage to step out and do it, due to fear of failure or what not, read this book. It'll save your life, as it did mine!

Hitting a flat place in my creative life felt uncomfortable. There seemed no option but to wait patiently for something to happen . Reading Big Magic has revived my enthusiasm for making things. Sparks of curiosity need to be followed, fanned. Thanks, Liz Gilbert.

This is one of those game changer books. It is light and easy-to-read but it is chock full of revelatory moments and stories to prove one thing. Elizabeth Gilbert is the real deal. She's nailed creativity and inspiration so wholeheartedly that I will never look at my writing or creativity the same way again. Everyone should read this book and invite more creativity into their lives.
