While I'm not approaching retirement, my parents are, so it was with great curiosity that I tucked into this book. Both of my parents work in IT and have done so for over 30 years, and while both of them are thinking about retirement, I think both are a bit uncertain of what their retirements will hold - how will they fill their lives with a 40-50 hour hole left behind from their careers?
In this book, the author takes a thoughtful look at how successful people can approach life beyond retirement - in a way that goes 'beyond the money'. He argues that finances shouldn't be your only post-retirement consideration, but that a successful retirement also needs to consider your identity, values, wellbeing, relationships and more. It's also backed up by a wealth of case studies, following people who have successfully tackled this stage of their lives.
All in all, I highly recommend this for anyone (man or woman) approaching the end of their career.
Steve brings a lot of wisdom and insight into this great book. His warmth and understanding of what truly makes people happy & peaceful shines throughout the book. Recommend this to anyone (not just men) who wants to live a richer life with a full heart.
