3.5 stars - If you haven't read the Beyond series and the new Gideon's Riders series, I'm kind of jealous because you have at least 20 books to devour ahead of you. This is about the only series I read now that isn't m/m, mostly because I think it's based on a pure understanding of female empowerment and it's erotic as hell. It does mix in some m/m here and there but not in this one.
This is part of the backstory of Dallas and Lex - how they got together and became the Familia that Lex demanded instead of the gang that Dallas created.
It was very well thought out. Both Dallas and Lex grew and portrayed themselves in a way that I thought was true to their eventual selves. It was really interesting to see who was around before Dallas met Lex, however, I felt a little thrown off by how long it took for Dallas and Lex to become truly Declan and Alexa to each other....which brings me to the reason for 3.5 stars.... the authors really crapped out at the last minute, just when we would finally get a glimpse at how Declan finally folded into Alexa, they move forward in time. It was really, really frustrating.
Maybe where it left off is where Beyond Control starts, it's been so long, I don't remember. Maybe I can start over and give up a little of my jealousy for those that haven't started the series yet
