This is Willas debut novel and I gotta say I liked it. I liked the plot and the development, the characters were well written and devolved, I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow further in the series.
I like Navi’s and Talon, not gonna lie, I had moments were I hoped that it turned into an RH with a couple of the other brothers, but maybe that’s just me reading too much of that lately so it jumped over to this but nonetheless I still enjoyed the characters. Their chemistry and bond was undeniable and I love their dynamic. There’s a few supporting characters I also love and hope to see more of in future maybe.
I gotta say, the writing style for me felt a little old fashioned. I had moments where I thought I was reading a historical fiction because that’s just the feel I got from it. Consequently it made the story feel long and drawn out in some places. It could just be me, but that was my feeling. I did love the suspense and mystery however I though that was really well done and I can’t wait to see how it plays out in the next book. A very well done debut by Watkins.

Talon is the youngest of the five Ashford brothers. Navia was abandoned at a convent when only three-years-old. She was taken in by the Ashford family and legally adopted at 13. Navia and Talon were close from the very start of her arrival into his family. It made sense since they were closest in age. The entire family doted on the only girl child. Navia did love all of her adopted family, but had the deepest bond with Talon. As time and years pass by, they do give into their feelings. The family has been through a lot & yet carry-on.
There are evil people that mean this family harm. There also are lots of secrets that need to become revealed. There is suspense, too. This is the first book in the Rosavale Series and can be read as a standalone. Navia & Talon have as happy an ending as they could have. There still are lots of problems and questions that need to be answered. Plus dark mysteries to be solved, that I want to read the next book, hopefully, very soon.
Now let me also note that the plot for this story is great! The Ashford brothers are hardworking and so protective of Navia. I love how much the other brothers love her and want to protect her. There were definitely some extremely steamy moments between Talon and Navia as well.
I definitely think that there are parts of this story that could use some work, but the characters were great, and the plot was intriguing. We’ll see what’s next from the Rosavale series!
