Product description

DEATHLOOP is an innovative first person shooter launching for PlayStation 5 and PC from Arkane Lyon, the award-winning studio behind the critically acclaimed Dishonored franchise. The studio’s new IP will continue Arkane’s signature gameplay design, challenging gamers to play their own way. As Colt, players are trapped in a time loop on the enigmatic island of Blackreef, doomed to repeat the same day for eternity. The only chance for escape is to break the loop by unearthing information and assassinating eight key targets before the day resets. However, lurking in the shadows is rival assassin Julianna, equipped with her own equally powerful abilities and weapons, on a mission to protect the loop by assassinating Colt, and restarting the cycle. Players can also choose to take control of Julianna, turning DEATHLOOP into a deadly game of hunter-vs-hunted.

Pros: Gameplay felt smooth and was very enjoyable from the start to finish. Soundtrack is amazing! Multiplayer (protect the loop) is a fun addition and can be used to mess with friends or randoms.

Cons: Ending was a bit disappointing and didn't really feel satisfying. Lastly, players may feel a bit confused at the beginning of the game due to the various tutorials. But once you figure out how the game works it's a breeze.

Overall it's a great game and a must play on ps5. And a fun platinum for trophy hunters. :)

Deathloop is a great game with fantastic gameplay mechanics and character banter. Hopefully in the future there will be some kind of DLC or expansion. Didn’t personally feel that there is much relatability if you’re into heavy story driven games, but there’s plenty of fun to be had !! No issues with the game crashing unlike a previous review posted here, runs awesome on my PS5 in both offline and online mode (online sometimes would have some frame rate stoppage but to be expected).

Would recommend everyone who enjoyed Dishonored series.
Nice “souls” twist with the “loop” and floating messages.
Offline mode for a relaxed gameplay, online for a challenge.
Would recommend.

Really enjoyed my time with the game, some of the most fluid combat advanced via the Prey and the Dishonored series.
Timeloop is fun to explore areas and 100%ing the game was great.
The AI isn't as good as it could be, and you feel a little overpowered at times, but vsing players via Break The Loop is great.

I'd read that this is a game that requires something of a learning curve: it does. However, having persisted through that I'd really started to enjoy the game - there are some great graphics, the gameplay elements were quite fun and (it seemed) an over-arching narrative through which you could lead the main character.

I'd played for several hours and I noticed I was back in the same areas of the map (there are really only 4 of them). The map segments are quite large but, in time, I'd been pushed back to continue through one of the 4 key areas and was to do so at one of four different times of day. OK. A little disappointed to find I'd exhausted areas to be explored but there was a solution waiting so onward.

I'm not a hard-core gamer and so I'd rather enjoy a game, solve what I can and, as necessary, search what I can't. And so I'd missed some puzzle element about 'making visible' some control panel and I checked online: return to this area in the evening, find some content written on a whiteboard, grab the code which is embedded in the message; next, return to the same area in the morning, grab a 'turret', set it up near some 'invisible' thing and then enter the code. Honestly... I would never have solved such a s solution with specific reference to the turret. And, keep in mind, when you enter each area you've got to fight your way through the baddies and so you could inadvertently be killed and you're required to progress the same steps through another 'day'.

There is a lot of experimentation and finishing the game requires beating 8 key baddies in a single day. The solution is difficult and requires lots of experimentation all while running through the same 4 maps. A loop? You betcha.

This game peaked at around 10 hours or something (maybe even 20). I played it and I do enjoy some of the game mechanics: stealth, weapons blazing and even being part of the narrative. But I'd exhausted those elements long before I'd got anywhere near a solution.

At a lower price I'd recommend but given it's a full-on AAA-priced game then I'd caution against it.
