Nate Crowley lives with his partner Ashleigh and a cat he insists on calling Turkey Boy. His writing career began on twitter where, as @frogcroakley, he authored Daniel Barker’s Birthday, a dystopian space opera in 700 installments.
Aside from That Birthday, Nate is the author of The Death and Life of Schneider Wrack, The 100 Best Video Games (That Never Existed), and a variety of short stories, videogames and animated shows.
Nate loves contemplating unusual animals, cooking stews, playing complicated games and being in wild places.

I bought two copies this year - one for me, one for my brother-in-law, and we've been texting favourite pages to each other since Christmas. They are slightly twisted visions of games you've already played, and twisted stories of game development that you've already heard. So sharp & funny.
A great and fun book to read. some of the more recent games had been poorly chosen displaying the author preference for retro style games. Any list of best video games which excludes Dead Man Sky's is incomplete.

Ridiculous and hilarious. A surreal jaunt through games that never could be, almost certainly might be, and unbelievably aren't. Nate is a particular kind of genius, concealing this kind of raw comedy within himself like the promise of a pearl, or the yolk at the centre of a scotch egg. Get this for anyone in your life who enjoys games.
5.0 out of 5 starsAn absolute must for video game fans

Such a great book - every game is hilarious, but also written with a real appreciation of the history of computer games. The ideas have a clear basis in established video game tropes and trends, which allows every entry to be both absurd and familiar. I've absolutely loved dipping in and out of it, and it's even better passing it round and reading with mates.

This is so tremendously funny. A really brilliant read. If you buy this as a gift buy two copies because you won't want to give it away. Really love this book, illustrations and themes are just mindblowing. You need this book.
