Product description

Expand your table saw's versatility by adding this industrial grade router table in place of the extension wing. Perfect for shops where space is tight, ProMAX includes a cast-iron top, Bench Dog's 28" ProFence, a miter gauge track that adjusts for a no-slop fit. If workspace is an issue, the ProMAX has you covered. Its dual fence slot configuration lets you rotate the fence and work from either side of the table to maximize surface area. Plus, with a third miter slot at its disposal, your table saw becomes perfectly equipped to handle crosscut sleds. Accepts 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" router table plates. Note: ProMAX cannot be installed as a left extension replacement on left tilt "cabinet" grade table saws because the table saw's motor protrudes to the left. Nor can ProMAX be installed as a right extension replacement on right tilt "cabinet" grade table saws for the same reason.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Usefulness, A Couple Of Small Quality Quibbles
Reviewed in the United States on 15 September 2015
As far as the usefulness of this product goes, I give 5 stars. It is a great addition to my 1990's Delta Unisaw. This both makes it into a router table and adds more horizontal workspace. Overall quality is good, for the price, and I recommend this to anyone looking to optimize their shop space and get router table functionality out of their table saw. The cast iron is nicely finished on top and is actually a nicer finish than what is on the Unisaw's iron tops.

I do have a few comments about some quality details on this though. None of them are deal-breakers, and they are either cosmetic or simple enough to fix myself that I didn't think that a return/exchange was necessary.

1) Small pitting on the cast iron top surface, just adjacent to the router plate pocket. It is a very small pit, but it is on the work surface and is noticeable. It won't impact the utility of the part, and it is probably fixable with some metal epoxy and some careful sanding/buffing (or just continuing to ignore it).

2) Not all of the threaded holes are chamfered which leaves some rough burrs where the threads terminate. It is very simple to fix with a chamfering bit and a drill, so this is almost a non-issue. Still, it is one of those little attention-to-detail things that would have been nice to have done from the factory.

3) Small ding in the aluminum ProFence. This is probably from being banged around in shipping. The packaging was decent, but the box was a little beaten up. Again, this is really just cosmstic and a fine file makes it a non-issue.

4) The ProFence is not quite straight. This is probably the biggest issue of the bunch. There is some concave curvature to the thing, and I measured 0.70mm in the center with my feeler gauges. It is also not square (has a slight helical twist to it), and when holding one corner down I was able to measure a 0.40mm gap under the opposing corner (holding rear left corner down and measuring under front right corner). I am considering asking Bench Dog for an exchange for the fence, but large extrusions like this, particularly after being machined, are very difficult to keep straight so I am skeptical that an exchange would get me a straight one. The fix in this case involves some brass shim stock behind the MDF faces, which is definitely an annoyance. Squaring the fence with the miter slot requires me to use my slot-mounted dial indicator every time I move it anyway, so the shimming is not too terrible. Still, I will probably try contacting Bench Dog directly to see if they can send a better one though.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like it and installed on my delta 36-725

Let me start by saying I knew this wasn't compatible out of the box with my saw but I put it on my Delta 36-725 anyway! It took some work. I used the steel table insert I removed from the original saw to mark the back of the router table extension for the 2 end bolts then drilled holes to match in the extension. There is just enough room to do this. I also removed the cable strap from the center hole in the tablesaw then drilled and tapped it to a 5/16 - 18. This allowed me to use the center hole in the table extension but I did have to machine the hole an 1/8" at the bottom. I drilled two holes in the rails bolted it together and it came out secure and perfectly matched to the tablesaw. I really like it! It took me about 4 hours. Pictures were before I installed the router and lift but all works great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fit on my R4512
Reviewed in the United States on 8 July 2014
Bought this as an Amazon Warehouse deal. The shipping box was beat to heck but the extension and accessories were all in perfect order. This bolted on directly to my Ridgid R4512. I didn't have to modify the extension or my saw. This saw does have the left-side motor extrusion. The only issue I had was needing to use a swivel extension when tightening down the center bolt, which really wasn't an issue at all.

I also ordered the Incra Master Lift 2 made just for Bench Dog and Rockler tables. I was expecting to have to do a bit of modifying so it'd fit this extension after reading some other reviews, but to my surprise when I got the router lift it dropped right in.
