Product Description

Ten years ago I fell in love with a married woman. I walked away so she could be happy, moving across the country to make sure I put space between us. We severed ties, and I promised myself I wouldn't look back.
Since then I committed to someone else, and we have a child and a life many would wish for. Except, it's never been enough for me. There's always been something missing; something I never wanted to admit.
With my own marriage failing, I'm forced to go back to my hometown to bury the man who raised me. I never expected to see her there, and nothing could prepare me for what would happen the moment my arms wrapped around hers again.

*Stand Alone read, but also follows the characters featured in book two, BEREFT.
Contains some adult content.

Only days after finding out that his marriage is no longer what he believed it to be, Chad gets word that his grandfather, the man who's been a father, mentor and friend to him for almost as long as he can remember, is fading fast. Dropping everything to fly from one side of the country to the other to visit with him before the inevitable, Chad encounters Rachel for the first time in ten years.

As chronicled in the second book of the series, Bereft, Chad had a brief, but extremely passionate affair with Rachel while she was separated from her husband, and even though Chad was the one who did the leaving, Rachel was always, for him, the one that got away.

You probably have an inkling where things head from there, and I like to avoid spoilers as much as possible, BUT, what I will say is that this book is messy. There is infidelity, and deceit, false accusations and people being rushed to hospital, and right in the middle of all of that is a sweet, innocent little girl who doesn't really understand why Daddy was kissing that lady the way she'd seen Mommy kissing another lady.

If there weren't children involved, it all could be as simple as saying "That's it. Its over. We're getting a divorce and I'm going to try and see if I can rekindle something with this other woman I never really stopped loving" ... but Harper is there, and everyone involved in the unfolding drama struggles with weighing her best interests against their own heart's desires.

With Harper's mother living on one coast, and the woman he sees as his future living on the other, there simply is no simple solution, and I suppose that in some ways, that's the stand out feature of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Painful 23 November 2015
By Kristy - MPBB - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Jenn Foor has put our emotions through the spin cycle. Belong gave us all kinds of feels. It is an emotional journey of hope, love, heartbreak and forgiveness. The highs are high but the heartbreaking moments will shatter you. It's devastatingly beautiful… Have the tissues!

Walking away from a relationship that's complicated is hard, especially when you still love that person. Being the one to walk away knowing it's what needs to happen rather than wanting it to happen just makes it a whole lot harder to move on with life.
Meeting someone new, someone you feel could fill the void left by the relationship that kept your heart; giving this person your everything only to discover she's done inappropriate things leaves you pining for the love that was complicated yet passionate.

They've loved once, can they love again and find happiness or are they destined to always have it ripped away from them?

“ I fell in love with you so quickly. It was amazing, but I knew it wouldn't last forever. Nothing that good ever does.”

We first met Chad in Bereft and he was so easy to fall in love with. He was there for Rachel in a time of her life when she needed him. He made the selfless decision to walk away rather than let her choose between him or her husband.

Ten years later Chad is now married to Veronica and has a five year old daughter, Harper. Veronica has had a painful past with recurring nightmares, it took her a long time to trust Chad, she doesn't trust men easily. Chad knows something is up with Veronica, his suspicions are confirmed after hiring someone to follow her. With her dirty laundry aired he knows their marriage is over.

Everything changes when Chad finds out his Grandfather is dying, he drops everything and flies home to be by his side. Being back home he knows he's going to come face to face with the one woman who has only ever truly had his heart. Veronica shows her true colours and clarity dawns on him in that moment. He is with the wrong woman, he loved Veronica but nothing like the love he had and still has for Rachel.

After tragically losing her husband two years ago, seeing Chad is stirring up feelings that were once there. She is thankful for spending the time she did with Grayson and has no regrets to going back to him. Being around Chad just reignites the love she had for him that has been dormant for the past ten years.

It’s like Fourth of July fireworks when they are back together. This is their shot at a life together, they can finally be happy. Their love, passion and chemistry is like it was the day they parted all those years ago. It feels right, this is where he is suppose to be. Until Veronica comes back with news that is going to turn their worlds upside down. Can their love really be strong enough to withstand all? Or will their plans for happy ever after be doomed?

“You’re all I’ve ever wanted. I feel like as soon as I get a taste of perfection it’s taken away from me. I didn’t anticipate this to happen between us.”

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed. 23 November 2015

****Caution Spoilers******

This series has been one that has kept me curious about what was going to happen and for that reason alone I kept returning. I was actually interested to see Chad get his HEA because it was obvious his story was next and while it was always a strong possibility the story was going to go as it did based in the blurb... I was still extremely disappointed.

This series is an extremely realistic and has dealt with mental health issues, infidelity and how it impacts marriage. Let it be known that infidelity is not always a deal breaker with me but it's mostly because of the way the author portrays it as well as the aftermath. Belong is sort of continuation of the previous book Bereft. For those of you who don't know or need a refresher. Bereft was about Rachel and Grayson. Rachel finds out that Grayson had been having an affair by being physically confronted by it and she was completely blindsided and devastated by the evidence. Grayson was a douchebag when being confronted by his wife and I seriously did not like him because he had no remorse when beginning and continuing the affair as well as at the confrontation (let's not forget WHO he was having an affair with). But throughout the book he slowly won me over because I felt like I could genuinely feel his remorse, regret, guilt and self-loathing when dealing with the aftermath of his affair; and of how it hurts not only Rachel but his daughter as well. Rachel is not only idealing with the betrayal to their marriage vows but now is dealing with feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem and I truly sympathized with her. Nor did I fault her for beginning an affair of her own with the much younger Chad who made her feel beautiful and worthy even when it started to go beyond just the physical aspects and started to hit the love territory. But in the end, the love for Grayson won out and they were able to work past their issues to create a more stronger marriage. Chad knowing this makes the difficult decision to back out and lets her go back to her love.

This story deals happens years later and Chad has married and started a family but not everything is smooth sailing. He finds out his wife has been having an affair. A death in the family brings him back home and where he once again sees Rachel, and where he discovers that Grayson has passed away and Rachel is now alone. Neither has really forgotten the other and Chad has never gotten over her.

Chad and Rachel realize they are still in love and Chad knows that his marriage is already over. After an impulsive trip in which Chad and Rachel have sex and are planning on moving in together, Veronica calls panicked that she is bleeding and that she believes she is miscarrying. He rushes back home only to find out it is not a miscarriage but instead his wife has cancer and unfortunately hasn't long to live. He commits himself to helping her get through this and tells Rachel that they have to let go because he needs to be here for Veronica. But only after telling Rachel to hold on and they will get the chance to be together in the future. Um, excuse me?

All I could think was WTF? Your wife is dying! When she finds out it was frightening experience and where were you? Screwing another woman that's where and not with your daughter where you should have been. Regardless of your martial problems even though they are huge, you have a daughter and should be helping her through this transition or at least giving her a stable environment until you are completely separated.

And this story made me absolutely LOATHE Rachel. You understand how painful it is to have your husband cheat on you and yet you still jumped into bed with Chad when he was still married. I don't care that their marriage was at an "end", he was still legally married. How can a woman who knows personally how much it hurts to have your husband stray, do that to another? Regardless of the fact that you were both in love with one another, you should have waited until the marriage was officially over. This story made Rachel a big hypocrite and IMO reduced her as a character. The author tried to make her seem like a better character by helping to nurse the wife on her death bed and the fact that her and Chad abstained from having sex while under the same roof (aside from kissing her here and there), and while the wife was still alive. I still felt like Rachel was more of a piranha waiting to get what she wants. It seemed convenient on the author's part to kill off the wife and let Chad and Rachel ride off into the sunset. (Let's not forget that Rachel gets another chance to be a mother because she cannot have her own kids).

The person who I really felt for was Veronica. The only reason Chad stayed with her was because of a sense of guilt and I know that had to sting even more. I am not saying that Veronica was right to have an affair but can anyone else see the parallel? What Veronica does at the end was truly selfless and shows the love she has for not only her daughter but for Chad as well. It's something that I don't know if I could have done if I were in a similar situation.

I think this book would have been more effective if it had been completely different. Chad and Veronica were both able to see where they went wrong and worked through it. Chad had to let go of his feelings and memories of another woman and Veronica had to get over her feelings of resentment and come to terms on why she cheated. Only then could they have have the marriage of love and trust.

I won't say that you shouldn't read this book because your reaction may be different and you may still have in your head the feelings that were built in the previous book. But for me, the pure hypocrisy on Rachel's part ruined this book and for that reason makes this a one star.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Heart Wrenching Stars 23 November 2015

I honestly don't know how to review this book. My heart was broken and slowly put back together, my head is swimming and I can't think straight and my emotions are all over the place. And even after saying that, I can say this was an amazing book!!!

I truly believe Jennifer Foor put her heart and soul into this book. I am not going to lie, this book is slightly depressing and covers some really serious issues that people and married people face in everyday life. You will definitely need a whole box of tissues with you when you read this book. Don't' let what I just said deter you from reading this book, just know going into this story there are a lot of ups and downs, your heart will be on a roller coaster ride, and your eyes might hurt in the end from all the tears. But in true Jenn Foor tradition, she will have you ending this journey with a smile on your face.

Belong is the third book in her 7 Year Itch series. Although each of these books can be read as a stand alone, I wouldn't recommend it with this one. I strongly suggest you read Bereft before reading Belong. This book is about Chad, who we meet in Bereft. It really is a continuation of his story. At the end of Bereft Chad decides to leave town and sever all ties with the love of his life. Belong starts out 10 years after Bereft ended. Chad has now moved across country to California and has started a new life for himself. He is married and has 1 child (Harper) His marriage is on the rocks and he is forced to reexamine his life after something happens with his wife. During this turmoil, he is forced to go back home and bury the man who raised him. What he didn't expect was to run in to her and all the feelings that it would stir up. I am not going to go on anymore with the storyline, because I don't want to give anything away. But this is why I would recommend reading these books in order, because there is a strong connection between the two story lines. I will say that if you choose to read Belong without reading Bereft, you won't be lost, Jenn does a great job connecting the dots, but I think to get the full emotional connection with the characters, they should be read in order.

If you are a Jenn Foor fan, you don't want to miss this book or series. I was nervous in the beginning to read any of these books in this series and I can honestly say this is turning out to be one of my favorite series. I don't know if it is because these stories feel so real to me and the characters are easy to connect with, but something just sucks me in.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most emotionally riveting reads for this year! Foor delivers a heartwrenchingly beautiful read! 24 November 2015

Oohhh the feels, chills, and tears this book will give you! Belong is Jennifer Foor’s third book in the Seven Year Itch series and the book I have been waiting for since closing the final pages of Bereft. I have always been on #teamChad and was beyond thrilled to see Foor was writing his story. Having always been on the fence with Rachel’s choice, I was excited to see if Chad’s decision was worth it. Would he have his own happily ever after or did he make the worst decision of his life by ending it with Rachel?

Belong picks up 10 years after Chad moves across the country away from Rachel. He is an established businessman, devoted dad, and unhappily married man. It isn’t until the death of his grandfather does Chad return to his childhood home and the memories of his life with Rachel. Vowing to only be her friend and to mourn the death of his grandfather along with her, fate has a way intervening and changing their lives forever.

When I originally opened this book, I had no clue where Foor would take me on Chad’s journey. I expected lots of heat, seduction, even another forbidden romance with a taboo topic. You can imagine my surprise when I ended up reading one of the most emotionally riveting reads for this year. I was so emotionally connected to these characters silently rooting that each would get their own happily ever after. Chad and Rachel’s story is one that stands the test of time. Their love is unconditional, heart wrenching yet fulfilling, and devastatingly beautiful in wake of the tragedies that surround it. I truly say with no doubt in my mind that this is Foor’s absolute best work to date that I’ve had the pleasure of reading.

Jenn Foor does it again! This book had me completely emerged into it. I felt like I was apart of the story. Chad is an amazing man. Who proves in so many ways how unselfish he is and that he would do anything, I mean anything for the people he loves. We 1st meet Chad in Bereft (book 2 if the Seven Year Itch series) where I instantly loved him and prayed for his happy ending. He finally gets his hea but he had to go through alot of trials & tribulations to get there. This book was extremely emotional and heart breaking. It shows the power of true love and happiness. It also keeps you on your toes with suspense the whole way through. You just don't know what's going to happen next, and as always in a J4 book, hot steamy sex!!! Thanks Jenn for allowing me to be apart of your amazing team!!!!
