To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This is an all time favourite book. Re-read MANY times. I even set it as prerequisite reading for one of my post grad classes on organisational change. It is funny, it is appallingly organisationally accurate, and it can be read for layers of meaning. For a quite short, simple, and what could be read as a frivolous book (about a centimetre thick) it is incredibly dense with possibilities and information. It could be read as a romance, or as a seriously funny slapstick book about organisational life, or as satire on organisational politics, or a brief introduction to applied chaos theory, or even just a series of fascinating tidbits and sub stories about trends, fads, fashion, leadership and follower-ship. I cannot recommend this book enough. Once again a book that I buy multiple copies of, as I love recommending it but never expect to get it back when I loan it out.

One of the quirkiest rom com stories ever
The 'trend' trivia at the start of each chapter is a hoot. And the social commentary is spot on

An interesting and informative read.

I always enjoy Connie Willis' writing, but didn't find this to be as brilliant as "To Say Nothing of the Dog" or "Doomsday Book". The characters seemed less convincing than in her other books, and the research setting failed to convince me of its authenticity. Also,I guessed the ending well before I got to it.
Nevertheless, the subject matter is thought-provoking, and as I had never heard of the term "Bellwether" before, I did learn something that can be applied to life. Anyone in a managerial or teaching position might find these ideas very useful indeed.

I always enjoy Connie Willis books, and this one didn't disappoint. As usual she mixes science with fiction, an throws in a lot of good humour.

Rather tedious.

The best parts are the ones not meant to be funny, and those are also tedious.
Also, horrible OCR on Kindle version.
