Product Description

An innocent discovery on a Montana ranch two years ago, sets off a series of events that may very well change the world . . . if it doesn't end it first.

Professor Delaney McPhearson's life is turned upside down when her best friend, archaeologist Drew Masters, is found dead. Before she can deal with the heartbreaking loss, she is viciously attacked in her home by a man with inhuman fighting abilities.

Former Navy SEAL and head of security for a global think tank, Jake Rogan drops everything when he hears his foster brother, Tom Jeffries, has gone missing. There seem to be no clues, no information about his whereabouts. He has just vanished. But Jake won't rest until he finds him.

Laney and Jake join forces when they learn that the fates of their loved ones are intertwined. And somehow all the danger that dogs their steps, revolves around an eccentric archaeologist's controversial work on Gobekli Tepe, and the search for an ancient source of power.

Their personal quest soon becomes a race to protect humanity's very existence. But how can they defeat a foe who has been planning his moves for millennia?

To save mankind, Laney and Jake know they must succeed. But to succeed, they must live long enough to fight.

Balancing the purchase price with what I got for my dollars, I have to say $4 was probably more than this book was worth. As one reviewer said on Amazon.com "this book suffers from the most pathetic attempt at proofreading I have ever experienced". I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I lost count of the number of prepositions missing, repeated parts of sentences and the irritating inability to turn past the start pages of many chapters. As for the story line, it suffered from an overkill of action sequences. I like to think that I have a pretty good imagination but my mind went into overload as practically every chapter had a fight sequence. Also, the lead character, Laney, was not credible at all. She suffered from a severe case of "masculine tendencies" and didn't come over as the "I can look after myself" sweet feminine academic her author obviously envisaged her to be. Finally, the titular Belial Stone made a brief entrance towards the end of the piece but soon vanished again leaving one wondering whether it was worth all the effort of finding it. Suffice to say, I won't be purchasing the other novels in the series.

This book has a great storyline, a believable plot, and characters that you care about. That being said, it's not Booker Prize winning stuff. A good, fun read that should really be a 3 star, but I love, love, love the author's notes & her efforts with this, her first book. I don't regret spending $3 on her book :)

Reasonably good story line with plenty of action, could have had a more intertwined plot and bit more background (plot) leading up to the introduction of new characters. Overall an entertaining read. Will probably purchase the next book in this series to see how this writer has developed.
