Sometimes life’s unforeseen paths lead us to discovering sides of ourselves we never knew existed.

Ace Bosse has always found solace at home, but when she returns for the summer from college she builds an unexpected relationship with the reckless Max Miller.

Three years ago, Max left for Alaska to find what he thought he’d lost, but now he realizes just how much he left behind.

Max teaches Ace that sometimes a little crazy is exactly what life needs while learning that some chances are worth taking, regardless of the risks.

But how do you know when you’ve met the right person? And will they be prepared to experience one of life’s biggest obstacles?

Falling in love isn’t easy, but holding on to it is where the real challenge lies.

This is the first book I had read by Mariah Dietz. I did not realize at the time the adventure that I was about to partake in. This is the first book in a series....a series that quite honestly, I just didn't read but was consumed by. Ms. Dietz introduces the Bosse family. An American family from California that consists of five sisters along with their parents. Each character different and heartwarming. Adding the neighbors, the Miller family, to the mix (a single mother with three boys), kicks the story up a gear.

Becoming His sets the story between Ace Bosse and Max Miller. Ace is a feisty heroine. She embodies everything I love about a strong female character...right down to her dog! Max offsets her with his alpha male tendencies perfectly. A story that is the beginning. A story that makes you laugh. A story that will make you cry.

If you want a read that will stay in your heart, mind, and soul long after you have read it, the His Series is for you. The reading order is Becoming His, Losing Her, and Finding Me.

Every romance reader needs this series in their lives! Thank you, Mariah Dietz, for one of my ultimate favorite series.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite of 2014 3 January 2015

Wow! That was my thought when I was reading. Mariah is a New Author, but you wouldn't know based on her writing. When I finally finished, it took me DAYS to process all of my emotions. I couldn't get the characters out of my head.

Ace, 19, is smart and driven, yet slightly indecisive. She is the youngest Bosse girl. She's cautious, loving but has an unrealistic fear of failure and loss. The Bosses' are open and honest and know how to have fun. Ace is especially close to her father, he knows how to communicate with her in a way no one else can. Ace's fear keeps her from truly embracing life. She has watched Max for as long as she can remember. What you see isn't always what you get.

Something about him has always intrigued me. He always remained slightly distant, looking at everyone with an edge of suspicion.-Ace

I'm officially head over heels for this guy just because he ordered the most perfect ice cream dish ever. -Ace

Max, 22, is a player by necessity and beautiful (as Ace would say), leaving home for Alaska at 18. When he returns home three years later, he runs into, neighbor girl Ace (Harper) Bosse. He doesn't know what to make of her, she's captivated him. She's not like girls he usually associates with. Max struggles with his own issues, even though he hides it well. Will he trust that Ace truly wants to be with him?

"Thank you." -Max
"For what?" I ask. "For giving me that piece of you." The words wrap around my brain, replaying over and over before I can stop them, and I have to focus to hear him continue. "I want every piece of you." My heart stops.

"You're so much more than she is. Everything about you is what I want. Your brilliance, your sense of humor, your heart, the fact that you can't stay awake through an entire movie... all of it is what makes me love you more every single day. Converse shoes and all, it's you that I want. It will always be you. I can't go back, not mow."-Max

What I love is how strong all the characters are. You'll find that you are drawn to the supporting characters, just as much as Ace and Max. Mariah will bring back all the feeling of your own youth, the emotions that you experienced with your first love/heart break. Whether it's angst, love, confusion, self doubt, fear or just being crazy, your heart is going to feel it.

One thing that I would say was confusing, was the beginning of the book when we first meet the family. I have to imagine that's what it's like when you first meet a large family. That confusion only lasts a chapter or two, until you learn the family dynamics. That being said, the family dynamics contribute to making this book great.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an amazing love story and strong characters Terri The Review Loft

5.0 out of 5 stars Vitality 1 February 2015
By Kindle Customer - Published on

This book was an accidental finding while I was seeking new, fresh stories instead the usual boy, girl, semi erotic and the standard catalog cover of angst models that do not truly portray the context. This cover captured my attention and the words captivated my heart holding me bound to the last sentence! I should say I am wild for peonies as they aren't your standard every day flowers. They are the staples in foundation gardens and are highly coveted for their perennial sturdy stalks and abundant petals. As they unfurl from tight buds to luscious blooms they are rich in color and fragrance until the time they're spent. The secret to peonies is they are hardy perennials, returning after harsh winters to flourish vibrantly each year. I am hopeful this next installment of Ace and Max's story lives up to the vitality of the peonies legacy.

This book is beautifully written. I was completely drawn into the lives of the characters and loved all of them. This story has its ups and downs 😭 like real life. It was a slow getting to know you story that completely captivated me. I was wanting to read every detail to find out more about the characters. I cannot wait to read the next one. Beautifully written with a ton of emotions. I laughed out loud at the family interactions (food fights in particular) they were hilarious. I need to mention the cover!!! It is so beautiful and The cover made me pick this book up! I mean who could pass by seeing that and not want to know what is inside!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ace and Max becoming his a life journey 11 February 2015

All I can say to start is WOW!!! This was a really easy to read book. Mariah did such an excellent job. It felt as if you were actually with Ace and Max during their journey. It had its moments of ups and downs for them both due to issues they both had been through. I feel that they are really meant for each other. They both have such chemistry and really know how each other feels. I only hope that their journey will bring them together stronger. Can't wait for the next phase of their lives. But really hope they come together. Thank you Mariah.
