Product Description

Lady Kathryn’s father sends her to court to find a husband, but being penniless and disinterested doesn't bode well for her success. Bored by the petty intrigues of court, her frustration and loneliness are eased when the king charges her with the care of his newest acquisition: a wolf he and his hunters have recently captured. What the king doesn't realize is his remarkable pet was once Gabriel, his favorite knight, cursed into wolf form by an unfaithful wife.

The beast’s uncanny intelligence and human-like behavior convince Kathryn that he is more than what he seems. Resolving to help him, she doesn't count on the greatest obstacle being Gabriel himself. The longer he stays in wolf form as a captive of the court, the harder it becomes for him to remember his humanity and to fight his wolfish urges to maim and kill.

Only Kathryn’s affection and determination stand between Gabriel the wolf and Gabriel the man. But when the one who betrayed him returns to court, will Kathryn’s love be enough to keep Gabriel from exacting a brutish revenge that will condemn the wolf to death?

THE BEAUTY’S BEAST contains elements of the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale mixed with some of the charming medieval fables of Marie de France. This book is part of THE BEAUTY’S BEAST FANTASY SERIES, a set of adventurous and romantic fairy tale adaptations. All books in this series take place in the same world of true love and grand fantasy adventures. You can read them back to back, or as individual, stand-alone books.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Big GOOD Wolf 14 September 2012
By Scott R. - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

Happened upon this by accident. Honestly, I hate the whole "Beauty and the Beast" theme. I saw the Disney movie with my friends 20 years ago and had "Be My Guest" going through my head for 3 years. (Oh great, now it's back). I almost had to throw myself off a cliff to make it stop.

But I do love werewolf stories. So I read the summary, took a chance on it, and read it in one sitting. It is that good.

This is not the usual werewolf story. The werewolf is not a wolf only at the full moon. He was that already for most of his life before his wife and lover pulled something nasty on him. Gabriel became a wolf for the next t 2 years of his life, as they figure out a way to trap him in wolf form so they can marry and get all his wealth (he is a duke and the king's nephew after all). He is desperately lonely, since he's a human in a wolf's body, and he doesn't fit into either world. But then Kathryn, the magician (whose name I can't spell), and the king and queen (of I think some part of France in the 11th century) all team up to save him. And yeah, they all pretty much live happy ever after (No shock, because everyone knows how this story turns out). It's the getting there that's the problem.

What I found especially refreshing about this book was that all the main characters knew that the wolf was Gabriel by the first quarter of the book. They then spend the rest of the book saving him. No angst of the wolf fearing that the people he cares about find out - he's actually quite happy, because they treat him like a man and a knight instead of an animal. Come on, the heroine even tries to sleep on the stone floor of the castle so the injured wolf can have the bed (chivalrous times would never allow the man to share a bed with an unmarried woman, even if he wasn't human). Naturally he doesn't allow that. Even the peasants and serveants throw away their silly supersitions about werewolves. It's a win-win situation for everyone!Except for the villains. Totally lose-lose there.

It's short, it's sweet, and it can't be put down. Now some reviews said they wanted to choke the wife through the computer screen. Nuh uh, it's the new husband that you want to strangle. I even felt a little sorry for the wife at the end - because a curse comes back on the caster three-fold (you'll see). Don't worry, everyone in the book gets what's coming to them.

Read it. Read it twice. And then read it again in a couple of months. You will be a happy. I'm glad I took a chance on a theme I didn't like. Now if I could just get that stupid song out of my mind...
5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely fantasy romance 4 August 2016

A lovely sweet, clean read.

I liked the author's writing style. The book captured my interest from the 1st page & it was hard to put down. I was immediately captured by the storytelling and the characters.

The heroine, Kathryn is immensely likable. She finds the court intrigues and the petty squabbling among the court members tiresome probably due to her rather unorthodox upbringing. After her mother dies when she is but 12, Kathryn who is largely ignored by her father is brought up by her uncle who gave her a wide education unusual for some one of the fairer sex.

The hero Gabriel ("Garwaf") starts off being close to losing his humanity forced into his wolf form for 2 years. The story of how he slowly regains his human character and thinking is lovely (thanks to Kathryn of course) & how their relationship gradually evolves.

This was my 1st book from this author. I look forward to reading other fantasy romances of hers.

A twist to the historical beauty and the beast fairy tale.
Lady Kathryn, a young and rebellious lady of the king's court , protect a wolf that was hunted by the king's party and by doing this is put in charge of healing and looking after the wolf
This is no ordinary wolf though, it is a werewolf who has secrets of his own.
Through love and caring Lady Kathryn heals the wolf and he helps her to cope with the life in the king's court.
This is a beautiful book to read that keeps your attention and restore the faith that good will overcome evil in the end.

The story had me caught from the beginning. To be trapped in another form and only those who betrayed you know. Suddenly you are in the middle of a hunt forced to fight for your life. Feeling death coming only to be saved by a maiden who was somewhere she was not supposed to be...

Read this book in less than one day! It was interesting and the author did a great job of developing the main characters. She did a good job of developing Gabriel as the wolf, so much so that you really liked him as a person. You were able to feel and see his personal conflicts and understand his actions. Kathyrn was wonderful. Her personality made you cheer for her- -she spoke her mind, she was considerate, kind and just a beautiful character. Overall I really enjoyed this book!
