5.0 out of 5 stars A jaw dropping insight into the world of cosmetic surgey. 17 April 2016
By Ann Massey (Perth, Australia) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Jack Donahue’s affluent childhood comes to an end when his father commits suicide leaving his wife and only child penniless. I started out rooting for Jack who pulls himself up by his own bootstraps and is a leading NY surgeon in his field of plastic surgery. But his balloon bursts, when as the surgeon-in-charge, he takes the rap for a botched procedure that was not of his making. With his career in ruins he changes his name to Simon Beaumont and relocates to Sydney, Australia. Brilliant surgeon, born hustler and almost sociopathic striver, he manages to raise herself to the upper limits of high society and wealth, only to see her achievements crumble under the weight of one unspeakable deed too many.

One of the extremely infuriating things about Jack/Simon is that he has so many opportunities to rehabilitate himself. I kept on hoping that the influence of his live-in lover Debbie, an altruistic and dedicated psychiatrist might transform into a nice guy but his innate nature is fixed. A dyed-in- the-wool sociopath, his hideous behaviour is nothing to do with his deprived childhood and everything to do with his failure as a human being. As someone who is interested in personality study, I found Peter Ralph’s study of an amoral schemer fascinating. An added bonus was a jaw dropping insight into the world of cosmetic surgery. Anyone contemplating a procedure should read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! 9 August 2016
By Sandy Moore - Published on Amazon.com

I really loved this book. It kept me hooked, described plastic surgery beautifully, and was just a fabulous story. UNTIL THE END...I did not like the ending! I felt as if things were not closed. What happened? I wanted to hear beyond how it ended. I was also wondering, if in Australia you have to be married a certain amount of years before you could ever get any money from someone you were married to for a relatively short period of time. What a great storyteller. I'm going off to look for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bold Look At Elective Surgery 31 May 2016
By Robert J. Dibbell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Human vanity and financial greed are the prominate drivers in this tale of wasteful adult activity. The reader is up against this miasma of bold action with seemingly no redeeming justification. Thankfully, we are granted with a closing in which one character leaves us with a solid "gotcha!" Reviewed by Frank Dibbell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 3 April 2016
By G Smith - Published on Amazon.com

Dr. Simon Beaumont is a top notch surgeon who thinks he is the best in the field and untouchable. He had moved to Sydney after a malpractice suit and a name change. He works his way to the top of the field by performing plastic surgery on socialites. One of his clients came in several times with her daughter Milly in tow. He ends up completely making over Millie and ends up marrying her. Will Milly end up being his downfall? This is a departure from this author's usual genre of financial thrillers but I though he did a nice job. I found the story was written well enough that it had my attention and I knew Dr Beaumont's greed would eventually lead to his downfall. I highly recommend this author's books.
