Product Description

Ember Walsh is a trusting soul with the quiet beauty of her late mother, who perished in a mysterious car crash when Ember was three. A little tomboyish from being raised by her father, Ember packs a punch when a stranger gets pushy with her in a bar, catching the steely blue eyes of a tall, gorgeous tattooed man—Trace Montgomery. Still damaged from her last disastrous relationship and warned off the bad boy by friends, Ember fights the smoldering heat that Trace sparks in her when he begins shadowing her like a dark angel.

Burdened by a lifetime of horror and heartbreak, amateur fighter Trace doesn’t want to want Ember. His deep self-loathing keeps him from having any meaningful relationships, but Ember is an itch he can’t scratch. The two push and pull, slowly crumbling their walls, seemingly brought together by fate, because the turmoil that haunts their pasts is interlinked in undeniable ways. But can these two fighters finally lay down their arms?

In Beautifully Damaged, L.A. Fiore delves into deep scars and lets love and forgiveness uncover redemption.

Revised edition: This edition of Beautifully Damaged includes editorial revisions and new scenes.

I enjoyed reading this book. A couple of times, my mind started to drift, but then there were times when Fiore showed clever writing skills and I was back in there. It was spit into 2 parts with the first part setting up the circumstances for part 2. My only criticism is that a couple of the subplots in part 2 weren't introduced in part 1 - confusing. However, the main storyline and other subplots start to link up as part 2 progressed. I have downloaded Beautifully Forgotten on the strength of this one.

This book came up as a recommendation from Amazon based on my past History, and I am thankful it did as I've read and loved many an LA Fiore books into the past and can't believe I missed this when it was released 3 years ago.

'Beautifully Damaged' held me right from the start. It shows appearances are not always what they seem, and even the damaged can change. It is the story of Trace Montgomery a very wealthy man who came from a poor childhood and Ember Walsh who is living in New York in the hope of becoming a writer. While out at a club one night Ember finds herself in some trouble and Trace comes to her rescue, but Trace doesn't want anything to do with her.

Without going into too many details, I will say that Trace suffered a horrible childhood, including abuse, the brutal murder of both parents, a horrific car accident that left his younger sister in a nursing home, and a family who never offered any help. Ember was raised by her father from a very young age after her mum was killed by a hit and run driver.

You will want to read 'Beautifully Damaged' to see how Trace and Ember's past brought them together. It truly is a beautiful story. I loved ALL of the characters. It is everything a book in this genre should be engaging, raw, honest, intense, romantic, sexy and beautiful.

Anyone involved in the welfare of teenage girls will have mixed feelings about this novel. It's about Ember a shy girl who falls hard for rich bad boy and stud Trace who has serious emotional issues. Naturally Ember is obsessed with rescuing Trace even when he rejects her in cruel ways.

I know that Trace is a classic romantic hero, physically perfect, high status and a rescuer, the twin brother of Edward in the Twilight series. Even though he's not real I don't like him because I fear that by admiring this stereotype, my girls could be harmed by callous self serving boyfriends. In this book as in Twilight the heroine is rewarded for pursuing the dangerous bad boy. Hopefully my girls are smarter than Ember and discover it's the man who respects them who is worth pursuing.

For those looking for a light well written romance and a less compelling murder mystery, this is a good choice.

The characters were great and I I loved the story line, but I feel there were some key elements missing to make in an amazing story :(
