A wonderfully romantic modern-day retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Adam (a.k.a the “Beast”) and his new PA, Beauregard couldn’t be more opposite at first glance. Adam has a beastly and aggressive persona for his MMA fighting, and Bo is an adorable geeky sweetheart who is focused on providing the best life he can for his younger sister. But Bo quickly learns there is more to his new boss than meets the eye. Adam is a gentle giant; he’s a loveable, squishy marshmallow who doesn’t think twice about helping those he cares about. Even though he’s never had a relationship before, once he develops a true connection with Bo, he basically doesn’t question whether he can give Bo his all. Oh, and he has an adorable geeky side as well! So much swooning!
When it was just attraction in the beginning for both of them, the boss/employee relationship is enough to create boundaries. But how are they supposed to resist one another when a friendship develops, and the desire for so much more is that strong? Even when they give in to their passion, Bo remains guarded thinking it can never last. And later comes a bit of heart-hurting angst when he pushes Adam away. Luckily, Adam is committed and patient and so kind-hearted; he never gives up hope and it pays off beautifully!

This is a perfectly fine romance inspired by the fairytale Beauty and the Beast. Beau is a dark haired beauty who goes to work for an older man, an MMA fighter nicknamed the Beast. Beast has been alone, hiding behind his Beast persona for a long time, and Beau is hired by Beast's manager to shake things up.
Like I said, this is perfectly fine, decently written romance that's not trying to break any boxes. The whole thing just felt very bland to me and when I compare it to similar romances, I'm not able to rate it higher than three stars.
I received an ARC and have chosen to leave an honest review.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Very different to any other retelling I've read by not following the usual path. This is to the authors credit with its originality of the retelling making this book even better

This was my first venture into the MM romance genre. I generally stick to ff but because I adore anything Evie writes I was excited to read this. I was not at all disappointed. In fact, I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed not only the writing, which I knew I would like, but the beautiful storyline and the characters that made me fall in love with them. Bo and Adam are both relatable, adorable and perfect for each other. Lulu is the perfect addition to the pairs dynamic. By the end of the book I was a gooey, emotional mess in the most wonderful way.

This book was fresh, fun, and extremely enjoyable.
I was quickly invested in the characters, and found them all extremely likeable. The sex scenes were well executed (not an easy task) and I felt a genuine connection between the characters. I picked this book up when I was in a bit of a reading dry spell and it certainly helped me get going again.

Author Evie Drae is a labor & delivery nurse working on her Masters of Science in Nursing and Healthcare Administration, and uses her highly award writing skills to help her fellow authors via the internet. Though she has won several Romance Writers of America competitions, BEAUREGARD AND THE BEAST appears to be her debut novel. Her genre – M/M romances with a theme of ‘illuminating dark romance one broken boy at a time.’
In what is (hopefully) the first novel in a series Once Upon A Vegas Night, this book cleverly opts into the ‘reconsidered fairy tale’ arena, calling forth the much loved Beauty and the Beast story, yet in Evie’s hands the Beauty is one Beauregard/Beau, a personal assistant meek lad to the Beast of MMA competitor Adam. The parallels in the story are in just the right reference to keep the title intact, but allowing it to grow into a steamy story that sails on it own very well.
The setting of the story – Las Vegas – is well painted by the author as she opens her story: ‘Even in the air-conditioned interior of Adam’s sprawling desert estate, the Las Vegas sun was oppressive. Late afternoon rays slanted through the blinds. They fell in even bands across the dove gray leather sofa, heating his bare skin. He’d made the right decision to forgo anything more than his boxer briefs for his Sunday laze…’ Enter the new personal assistant and the clash in types begins!
The author provides a solid plot synopsis: ‘Champion MMA fighter Adam Littrell is preparing for the biggest fight of his career. If he wins, he’ll add another proverbial notch to his record-breaking title reign. If he loses, he’s on the fast track for retirement. But when he opens the door to a distraction in the form of the nerdy and awkward Bo Wilkins, staying focused becomes a struggle. Aware of his new employer’s surly reputation, Bo expects to earn the generous salary his position as Adam’s live-in personal assistant offers. However, as chemistry sizzles beneath the guise of an unexpected friendship, Bo discovers the Beast hardly lives up to his name. And when a shared love of books leads them to study for their GEDs together, the possibilities for their future take on a much rosier hue. But just as their relationship finally finds its footing, an emergency with his sister pulls Bo away and he drops everything. Including Adam. Until now, Adam believed the most significant fight of his life would be a physical one. But with the defense of his title hanging in the balance and Bo no longer by his side, he makes a grim realization. His greatest prize can’t be won in the octagon.’
The manner in which Evie develops this relationship between apparent opposites (at least physically…) is well polished, integrating the erotica with a fast paced storyline, making this a successful first episode in series that attaches the reader to Evie’s future output. Well done! Grady Harp, May 20

A gender bending retelling you need to experience for yourself
Reviewed in the United States on 20 August 2019Verified Purchase
In an updated (and much needed) change from the original story, our adorkably precious Beauregard “Bo” Wilkins is not kidnapped by The Beast. Instead he is hired to be the PA for the hulking MMA fighter who, from all appearances, earned such a fear inducing moniker honestly. So sweet, kinda innocent Bo feels like he might be traipsing into the lion’s den by taking the job.
But you know what they say about assumptions.
Adam “Beast” Littrell is anything but the intimidating creature the media hypes him to be. That is, not outside the ring. When Adam steps into the octagon he is focused and intent. In his everyday life he is an aging MMA superstar looking for something more substantial than a championship title: love and family.
Two things Bo offers wrapped in a small, serious package.
Bo seemingly has tunnel vision, fixated on being the best PA he possibly can. However, all too soon both men are overcome with near palpable attraction for the other. One that extends far beyond lusty need (we’ll come back to that) to a deep mental and emotional connection that challenges both men to become better versions of themselves and draws them increasingly closer.
As things move from shy admiration to pantingly hot desire, a bit of real life slams into their burgeoning relationship in the spunky, sassy form of Bo’s little sister, and the reason he needed the intimidating position as Adam’s PA to begin with, Lulu. She is a typical eighteen year old with one notable exception: she is the apple of her big brother’s eye. Both a special position to hold… and a slightly overwhelming one. Her own drama manages to thread its way into Bo and Adam’s tenuous connection, putting their future in question.
Let’s just circle back to the lust I mentioned earlier. Evie Drae is an absolute master of sexual attraction between her characters that culminates in the steamiest intimate scenes I’ve ever read. Her natural poetic way with words carries into her character’s sexy times and manages to amplify the heat to unbearable levels. Pro tip: keep your partner or favorite battery operated boyfriend nearby. They won’t go to waste.
If you love fairy tale retellings, you need to grab Beauregard and the Beast.
If you love gender bending takes on classics, you need to grab Beauregard and the Beast.
If you love gay romance, you need to grab Beauregard and the Beast.
If you love romance with a guaranteed HEA that is super deserved, you need to grab Beauregard and the Beast.
If you love beautifully crafted stories, you need to grab Beauregard and the Beast.
Basically if you have more than two brain cells bopping around in your cranium, you really need to grab your own copy of Beauregard and the Beast RIGHT THIS SECOND.

Loved the gentle romance
Reviewed in the United States on 11 May 2020Verified Purchase
Adam Littrell is a Champion MMA Fighter about to go up against his biggest foe, a literal make or break moment in his epic career. In this hectic time of preparing and training, he has the added issue of hiring a new personal assistant and gets shy, awkward Bo Wilkins. After a rocky start, the two bond over unexpected things, such as their love for books, or their determination to get their GED. As the two grow closer and closer, Bo drops everything to attend a family emergency and Adam, has to decide which is more important to him, Bo or his career?
I really liked this book, as I am fairly new to the MM romance category (only started reading it this year), I liked the clear departure of the stereotypical behavior and the revealing of a gentler, blossoming romance between Bo and Adam. The book was very well written and edited and the focus being on the two main characters means we didn’t get too much into the MMA scene or other potential areas that could have dragged the story down.
