Product Description

Alasdair McMahon isn't focused on finding his mate. He only has one thing on his mind - avenging his sister. Knowing the damage his dad's fated mate had done to his family, he isn't even sure he ever wants to find a mate of his own. Alasdair quickly discovers that sometimes the thing you want the least is what you need the most when his journey leads him straight to the woman fate has chosen for him.

Finley Woulffe is the beloved daughter of an alpha. Her parent's marriage set the example of what she thought life would be like when she meets her fated mate. She accepts Alasdair's mark without a second thought but soon learns of the grudge her new mate and his family have against her father. Will she have to bear the consequences of his mistake?

This is the first McMahon Clan book, a spin-off from the Black River Pack stories. Each novella features a different couple.

Bear the consequences Part 1
This series is a spin off the the black River Pack, is an emotional story about family, love and honor. I highly enjoyed this book with it's Alpha character and sweet yet sizzling romance. Finley and Alasdair's mating has some hiccups but they seem the stronger for it. Very enjoyable start to the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... now and then would re read it because I like the emotions it pulled on me 15 June 2016

I first read it on Kindle Unlimited and every now and then would re read it because I like the emotions it pulled on me. So it came off Kindle Unlimited and had to buy it:) Personally I enjoyed this read. It's one of those Romeo and Juliet type story lines but in this one hero is conflicted internally and it leads him to unintentionally cause emotional harm to his mate. However, never doubted his loyalty or commitment to the heroine. In the end what led the conflict ironically is what caused a similar pivotal point that finally reunites the families and gives us a beautiful HEA. Also, big fan of seeing hero suffer and work towards forgiveness but not drag it out. That last 1/3 of the book is the best and I just love re reading. Would recommend.

Beware Possible Spoilers ))))) Proceed with caution after this. Thanks.

Hero and his family hold anger and resentment towards heroine's family by how they feel the heroine's pack failed to protect their sister. So imagine hero's shock that his destined mate is the alpha's precious and innocent daughter. He doesn't fight the mating so much as he neglects her unintentionally in all his conflicted emotions and family problems. He is very worried about what everyone else in his clan thinks about them and still holding his resentment towards heroine's father. This hurts the heroine because she is used to being loved and treasure, hero just wasn't doing a good job of filling her daddy's shoes. He is also working long hours and hasn't asked for time off to spend with the heroine. When he finally does there is a misunderstanding, and it is followed the next morning by big confrontation scene.

Heroine almost loses her life doing something she felt hero's family was failing to do, before hero wakes up and realizes how bad he messed up. The rest is a great groveling scenes before heroine even considers forgiving him. It was a safe read. Felt the struggles the couple had and the climax scenes brought better understanding to hero's pack that heroine's father was really not to blame. This is part series but I read it stand alone and had no problems following storyline. Safe read. No OW or OM. Steamy parts. Loved the drama in the story. Gave it 5 stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, but wanted more! : ) 19 May 2015

Finley & Alasdair's story is a super quick read, and they have the fated mates thing going for them, but their road is not easy. Although he recognizes her right away as his mate, Alasdair has a little trouble actually connecting the way he should - or, rather, expressing that connection to Finley. And I LOVE Finley! She grew up coddled and as her pack's princess, but she has a backbone & isn't afraid to stand up to the men in her life. Loved her feisty personality!

Great story & loved seeing more of Annora & Parker! My only complaint is that the last bit felt rushed. I didn't connect as much with Alasdair as I normally do w/ the heroes - mostly because he was being a brat for most of the book. I would have liked a little more time getting to know him & Finley after he stopped being a jerk. The epilogue, tho, was FANTASTIC! : )
5.0 out of 5 stars I love these series of books 4 May 2016

I love these hot, sexy shifter love stories. Alasdair & Finley have a instant connection as fated mates usually do. They mated & marked each other as soon as they met without even finding out each other's name. But this love story does not run smoothly. In the end things work out but it takes Finley getting hurt to make Alasdair realizes he was taking her for granted.
3.0 out of 5 stars Alasdair is a terrible mate 16 May 2016
By VivLA - Published on Amazon.com

When Alasdair and Finley first meet, it was instant attraction and he marks her. Finely is a happy person with a good heart. When it is found out that she is the daughter of an alpha Alasdair's clan does not care for due to past mistakes, she is treated differently. She moves from her family's loving home to the clan's home and is basically a stranger. Alasdair only spends time with her to have sex, all his other time is spent working or with his bothers. His father and brothers basically act like she doesn't exist. Her mate steals the light from her eyes, he took her happiness and she is almost a shell of her former self. The bear clan conveniently forgot what it's meant to be family. Alasdair was given a precious mate and obviously doesn't deserve it.

I loved this storyline. The writing was superb. It was the perfect mix of love, betrayal, action, and steamy love scenes. Cant wait for more from this series.
