I did not have the book cover, so my imagination of what it looked like was solely from the beautifully written description. I could easily imagine each location. The tale of a mother coming to terms with her past. A daughter coming to terms with her family. A well woven story of family turmoil that was unspoken. There is a romance intermingled. I throughly enjoyed this read; even the side characters kept me interested. Not to mention a lesson on turtles. So grab your sand chair, put on some sun screen, pack your cooler and enjoy a quiet day at the beach with this book.

Delightful story of human frailty and love woven into the need to take care of our environment as well as our relationships

We need to speak out sometimes rather than hide our feelings thinking we are protecting our nearest and dearest and have regrets when it's too late to tell the truth. The importance of protecting our environment for the future and our worldwide family is shown in Mary Alice Monroe's tale as well as the thought-provoking reminder that we need not worry about material things in life so create happiness. Although the story is light and easy to read maybe not a great literary work it conjures up a picture of an idyllic part of America,it's traditions and customs not often heard about in the media in Europe.

Maybe too many stories going on at once?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2019Verified Purchase
This book is ok, was just missing something as it is a bit predictable with no big twists. I became more interested in the turtle info and the efforts to save them, it sounds like an idyllic location.
