"Giles' lively prose wonderfully captures the heady, romantic days of the early Hollywood film industry and its colorful cast of characters. It's an emotional roller coaster from start to finish." - Mary Mallory (author of Living With Grace, Life Lessons from America's Princess)--This text refers to the paperback edition.

Her characters and vivid descriptions jumped right off the page. I liked the pace. It was worth risking motion sickness while traveling to scramble through a few more chapters.
The seedy underbelly of Hollywood is really exposed. Marie Prevost had an extraordinary life. An amazing true tale of the rise and fall of a starlet. The true dish on our favourite actors of the golden age of film.
I mostly loved the vocabulary and expressions that Laini used. "Banana juice!" The detailed descriptions of the gorgeous clothes puts you right there on the red carpet.
Another win! I can't wait to read her next one.
I am so looking forward to Book 4 in this series, i was trying to think of some "forgotten actresses" without googling, i came up with three on my own, Alma Rubens and Norma & Constance Talmadge....i recommend to anyone who likes movies, and the silent era, read Laini Giles three books, you wont be sorry
Giles seems to love this era as much as I do! So nice to find a kindred spirit between the covers of a book. I look forward to Giles' next installment in this wonderful series!
The books are all intriguing and amazingly detailed travels through the lives of each actress, interacting with the legends of the time. I often found myself looking at Wikipedia or YouTube to learn more about the actors and actresses in the books, and to have a look at the films.
Thank you, Laini Giles, I am already looking forward to a Book 4!
