End of story: it helped, but not completely. Also, I've now traded the car in on a much newer model. :)

Update: No check engine light or white smoke. I replaced the radiator. I think I made the mistake of adding this stuff directly into the upper radiator hose. I did that because when I poured it in the radiator fill, it didn't drain into the radiator. This stuff is really thick. It was just sitting in the bottom of the old radiator even after about 50 miles of driving. If I had to do it again, I would drain a gallon out of the system then mix this stuff with that gallon and pour it in semi-diluted. I will attempt to flush the heater core at some point.
