Product description

Product Description

You'd think a tall woman would fit in on a planet of seven-foot-tall aliens, but even on the ice planet, I'm still a weirdo and an oddity. I'm everything all the other cute, dainty human women aren't.

One guy in particular - the alien Harrec - is determined to embarrass me by pretending he's interested. He's a jokester that flirts like mad and hits on me constantly just to make me feel foolish. He gets under my skin. He makes me so frustrated I want to scream.

When a side-trip to a glacier turns into a nightmare and the two of us are forced to survive alone, I see another side to the enticing blue alien. Even with no one else around, his compliments keep coming and I start wondering if the attraction between us...is real.

Who wouldn't love a big tall horned and horny blue alien with a @#!$ like a rabbit. I really like how these stories evolve. Every human & alien has their own story to tell including a brawny H hunter with a fear of and an Amazonian built h human who wants nothing more than to be loved for who she is and feel anything but a freak. Great story can't wait for the next book.

Another enjoyable read from Miss Ruby. This is the story of insecure Kate and Harrec. There is an accident when Kate and Harrec take a shortcut and it develops from there. Well written and entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome story, great writing, a keeper! 7 March 2017

Kate is new to the ice planet and has baggage from being "undesirable" to earth men. At 6'1" and 180 lbs she is blonde with kinky curly hair, pale skin, tall and sturdy while all the other humans tend to be petite and delicate. When the ice planets 7' tall, muscular and handsome Harrec starts following her everywhere she believes his teasing is more hurtful insults like she was used to on earth. When an awful accident leaves an injured Harrec in Kate's hands, she uses her strength to save him. They come to know each other away from the other ice planet inhabitants.

Wow! What a story. Ruby Dixon really knows how to write. Once I started the book I just couldn't stop. I read every word. Sometimes going back and re-reading parts. Love this series and this book is one of the very best!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved these two so much 9 March 2017

Hot damn Ruby sure knows how to deliver on tall, blue and horned hunks. I think I enjoyed this book so much because it showed how deeply we can feel when we are self conscious and how defensive it can make one. When someone cares for another they are more than willing to battle any demons for the one they love even the ones buried deep. Each Barbarian book is a favourite of mine but this particular couple are very special to me. I cannot wait for what Ruby has in store for us next.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Reading the Paranormal Review 29 March 2017

WARNING: More blue barbarian fangirling ahead. Because I seriously can't get enough of these big, blue lugs. They're just so stinking sweet. A little clueless sometimes and they all have wonderfully dirty mouths, but they care about the human women who've ended up on their world and they treat them like the treasures they are.

It takes a while for Harrec to realize Kate doesn't see his teasing as his way of showing his affection. Once he does, he devotes himself to making sure she understands what she means to him. It doesn't stop his teasing, mind you, but he figures out how to get under her skin in the best way and soon Kate's prickliness turns into something else.

There's danger and a touch of heartache and some GREAT setup for the next book. I honestly can't get enough of these aliens and their icy planet and I love how the world feels like it gets a little bigger every time we step into it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Liked him, not so much her 14 March 2017

First off, this one seemed rushed. Not that the story was bad, just that the editing and rewrites might have been a bit too glossed over this time around. I've read all the IPB stories and this is the first where the writing seemed like it could have used a few more passes. Not horrible, but noticeable.
Second, while H was a hoot, h was clueless for far too long. As a tall, pale gal myself, I could relate to her description of the awkwardness of puberty, but I think the author went a bit overboard with the intensely low level of self-esteem she suffered. Didn't seem realistic at all. If she'd also been homely, or deformed somehow, maybe. But tall, strong women get plenty of the usual attention from the male half of the species, just less so from short guys. But we don't usually care about losing out on that demographic. 😏
My two gripes aside, I liked the story arc quite a bit.
Potential Spoiler ahead!
I have wondered in the past of we'd see a love connection imperiled by resonance to another. The panic of such a potential outcome was nice to see addressed. I really like to read about love blossoming outside of resonance. Much more romantic when it's by choice.
One last note: I really enjoyed Summer's chatter. I have a friend like that, and though it can be trying at times, more often than not it is hilarious. I doubt she'd appreciate knowing her nervous blathering entertains me, but such is life, right? Go Summer! I hope Ms. Dixon resonates her to someone of boundless character to match, not a grump who can "look past" her verbal idiosyncrasies.
4.0 out of 5 stars I love this series 16 April 2017

I do love the books where the love comes before the resonance, and this was a fun one. Harrec has been a jokester throughout the series, and not someone I’ve really thought twice about. Poor Kate is self conscious about her height and doesn’t realize that Harrec’s teasing is his way of flirting, and that his “insults” are really supposed to be compliments. It’s a real case of miscommunication that just gets funnier the more it happens. I love how each of these books really lets you get to know not only the main characters, but the rest of the tribe better with each page. Understanding them and enjoying this world for all its’ got. My only complaint is how some of the conversations were a bit repetitive, like they didn’t remember they just talked about such. As well as the huge cliffhanger that Dixon just left us with. Like what the heck is going on here, and when will the next book come to soothe my worries?
