A short little lesbian scifi (or science fantasy) story, which, I can only assume, was inspired by some kind of drug-trip. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since at least it's quirky and different ... but it ultimately suffered a bit in terms of coherence and, well, overall narrative focus and a satisfying conclusion.
If you want something odd, it might be worth a look, but otherwise not so much.
This book was somewhat strange, but I liked it. I particularly liked the inner voice of the protagonist; I enjoyed watching her react to things.
The setting was lighter sci-fi; with everything being thrown at you with a minimum of background, explanation, and description. It worked for the story, but don't expect Weber-ish information dumps here. This isn't a complaint, necessarily, as I never had trouble picturing the scene or what was going on. Overall they probably contributed to the brisk nature of the story.
Plot wise, things got pretty strange. Without spoiling things, it worked, but it was also pretty surreal. It was also somewhat dark.
Honestly, I enjoyed it, and I'll probably take a look at the other things the author has written.
Thought I already did this, but I must not have hit submit. That said, I'm back now. This was a good sci-fi story. One had to following the main character through her choices (past and present, good and bad) to get to the conclusion. For being somewhat self centered, the right decision was made.
