Product Description

Love isn't always bright and shiny.

Sometimes, it's dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.

Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.

One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that's exactly what they plan on doing.

Even if it kills them.

warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, foul language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law. 80,000 word full length novel.

This novel is so wickedly hot; it goes over the edge of perverse. For me, the characters went beyond the realm of anything I've have read before. It also pushed me well out of my comfort zone, and in spite of the fact that most of the time I was truly shocked to the core, my morbid curiosity was as such that I devoured the book in one sitting. The author’s creative writing is at its very best. Her character development in a book with no holds barred, quite incredible. And I never expected anything less from Ms Fantôme who is well-known for combining an action packed storyline with unconventional romance. In this case, unconventional would be putting it mildly because the two protagonists don’t even come near to what is considered morally correct. Comparing them with a Molotov cocktail would be more appropriate as they are nothing less than explosive together.

Contrasting upbringings but traits so similar, Dulcie and Constantine are two peas in a pod. She stays under the radar, has had a difficult and unloving childhood and escapes from reality in her love for drawing abstract thoughts. I was extremely worried for this young lady at the beginning of the story; however, my fears were unfounded as she is the strongest anti-heroine I have come across in a long time. Albeit Constantine’s subtle awareness of Dulcie’s quirky ways and purity, when he eventually acknowledges her, she is convinced she had him sussed; could see straight through him. Little did I know what he had in store for her. Saying that, I had no doubt her future happiness would hinge on this irresistibly beautiful bad boy but as usual with this author’s works, nothing is ever what it seems.

"Why did I help him? Why did I do anything?

4.0 out of 5 stars Con & Dulcie are bad/good together! 14 April 2016

This was a tough review to write. I will admit that I was nervous to start reading this. The early reviews had me going into this cautiously. In the end, while this is dark, depraved, insane at times, it wasn't as bad as I expected.

Our two villains - no hero and heroine here - are Constantine (Con-fitting) Masters and Dulcie Travers. The book opens where the two are in high school; Con a senior and Dulcie a junior. They have an odd encounter that sparks a smoldering inferno. Con is the big man on campus - stud quarterback, top of his class academically and the mayor's son. Dulcie is from the other side of the tracks - trailer trash with a family that is too dysfunctional to describe. Dulcie coasts through school by laying low and doing the bare minimum to get by. Her escape is her art, her drawings or photography. When the two are together, they bring out the darkness in one another - a deadly combination to say the least.

Dulcie and Con's story follows them through a span of 5 years. Con graduates and goes off to college and Dulcie graduates high school and stays in their small town in West Virginia working to survive. During this time, the two come together a few times until finally, once Con is out of college he comes back to town for good... or should I say BAD.

What I loved is that I had no clue where Stylo was going to go with this twisted tale. Nothing goes as you might expect - I kept flipping the pages pondering what might be coming next! I was completely captivated. The part I wanted to understand better is Con's background. What made him tick? What happened to him in his childhood to have him harbor such hatred and depravity? Dulcie's upbringing alone makes her twisted thoughts understandable. Overall, this was another great book by an author on my "gotta buy it" list!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, delicious, and addicting! A bloody masterpiece! 12 April 2016
By Author K Webster - Published on Amazon.com

It's not a secret. I'm a hard core Stylo Fantome fan. Everything she's written somehow consumes my every thought. So, when I discovered she had a "bad" book, I was all over it and sold my soul to the she-devil herself to get an early copy. And boy was selling my soul worth it.

Dulcie and Constantine are "different" in the eyes of others. She's an outcast, gothic, outsider. He's a rich boy, handsome, loved-by-everyone kind of guy. Two people like them could never connect. Right?

Wrong.

"They were just friends, in everyone's eyes. Friends that can't stop sleeping together and don't understand what kind of monster they're becoming and maybe want to burn down the whole town. That kind of friends."

Con and Dulcie were so much more than friends. They were everything to each other.

"Con was the darkness, and she was simply drawn to it."
"Con was her dark little rainbow, spreading peace over her world."
BUT
"Con wasn't the only big bad wolf lurking around."

Sometimes, things aren't as they seem. And what we outwardly portray is not at all what lives, breathes, and festers on the inside. Sometimes, darkness seeks darkness. Evil finds evil. Shadows play with other shadows. And for Dulcie, she'd called to Constantine in a way no one ever had.

"Little red riding hood fell for the wolf."

Those two had a twisted, intense chemistry. It bled from the pages and I soaked every drop of it.

"He needed to devour something, it was clear, and she was fresh meat. She wanted to split open for him and lay at his feet."

This suspenseful, dark read had me devouring each page like a bloodthirsty monster. I felt at home with these twisted characters. They spoke to me in a way no other characters ever have. They were raw, intense, and brutal. But they also loved...in an odd, fascinating, and completely obsessive way.

"Maybe we're sick."
"If this is a sickness, then I don't want a cure."

I loved this book so much. I can't wait for everyone else to fall in love with them just as I have. Stylo, keep being friggin' amazing, girl.

"What a beautiful darkness we are."
"We are. Both of us. We're the bad ones. Together."

And bad never felt so good. This book is definitely a dark, twisted fairy tale unlike any you've ever read before.

"One of those tales that come out of the Black Forest, and ended with children being eaten and big bad wolves going home satisfied."

I know I was more than satisfied.
I guess that makes me a wolf.
And I'm okay with that because apparently wolves can be happy too.
5.0 out of 5 stars A dark, depraved and seductive love story! 17 April 2016

**Beta copy provided by the author for an honest review**

It's really hard for me to review a book I've gotten so close to because the characters become like family and their story becomes very close to my heart. This is one is one of those stories.

Con and Dulcie are (IMO) one of Stylo Fantôme's greatest creations. Not because they're sweet or so loving towards each other that their love shines down on them in a glowing ray of unicorns and rainbows. Nope. The opposite. They're so amazing because the author has seemingly written a pair of apathetic sociopaths who have a darkness inside them that is only matched by their own twisted, disturbing, obsessive love for each other.

Constantine Masters, is pure seduction. He is the town's Golden boy. The popular Football God, son of the Mayor who has the world at his fingertips. But he's always known he was a little different from everyone else.

Enter Dulcie Travers. The town loner, trailer trash and unpopular art geek. She's always known she was a little "off", different from everyone else but not really understanding why and what it meant.

But Con knew. He knew what it meant and specifically, what it meant for HIM - Dulcie was the girl for him. The one person he was waiting for to complete and understand him. If that isn't pure romance, what is? ;) So my boy Con. He realized he's found THE girl. The Ying to his Yang. His match. Now, she just had to realize it on her own. Then one dark and seductive night, Con helped her become who she was born to be.

The author depicts it perfectly. Con has always known who he is. His darkness, willingly hidden behind a facade of perfection, complemented the inner darkness Dulcie has always been afraid to show. But he helped release the real Dulcie behind the "curtain". Now the world is her stage and she's ready to be and show who she really is.

Con and Dulcie were absolute perfection. They were psychotic, terrifying, depraved, utterly seductive and 100% dedicated to their love. Here is a couple who would do absolutely anything and everything for each other and when together, brought out the best in each other. The result? A fiery, untraditional, dark and sexy love story of boy meets girl and the ashes that lay all around them as they burn the world down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bonnie and Clyde on Steroids 3 May 2016

Another exceptional story from Stylo Fantome. I read everything she writes and am never disappointed. This story is the darkest I've read from anyone before. Con and Dulcie are unforgettable but certainly not the usual lovers we come to expect. There is nothing predicable about their story. I devoured it and yet fearfully turned the pages not knowing what was coming next. Be prepared to take a ride on the wild side. The story is full of surprises and even though I thought there was only one ending for this story, Ms. Fantome surprised me again.

I won't forget this couple and after reading something so dark, I've gone through my "To Be Read" pile and have picked up something that will make me laugh. Not that I didn't smile reading this book but it was really more of a sneer.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's a great cross between Natural Born Killers and Cruel Intentions. 13 April 2016

Wow. When Stylo Fantome is good but when she is BAD she is great. My Time in the Affair was my first book by her and I enjoyed it. But then I found her Mercenaries series and I fell in love. I had no idea The Bad Ones was being released but lucked up on it on the day it came out. I was hooked from the beginning! It's a great cross between Natural Born Killers and Cruel Intentions. I loved these characters and I'd like to read more about them in the future. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I also began to question my sanity for enjoying something that was so violent. And yes, this is violent. Be warned, be prepared and be ready for a great read. Thank you Ms. Fantome for another great book. This completely took me by surprise and what a great surprise it was!
