I’ve read everything else by Charleigh Rose and she has some delicious and amazing works but this just kissed the mark for me, sorry.
I didn’t feel the connection with Jesse and Allie at the beginning. Their conversations were weird and didn’t really match with the personalities they were going with at the time. Around the lake/party scene, everything clicked and the story was smooth, except for Dylan and where Jesse kept disappearing too.
I found Dylan’s characters to be a douche, he was the thorn in their side without giving them a reason and then suddenly sees the girl he left behind and everything is forgotten. He either needed more presence in the story or to get of his high horse- I actually thought he was going to be a bad guy and the one keeping Jesse away from Allie.
Jesse’s secret- I despise secrets and I’m impressed Charleigh kept this hidden for as long as it was. It was just sad and heartbreaking that Jesse felt like he had no self worth, and I think it would take more than Lo coming in to yell at him to get him moving again. Also I was annoyed at Lo and Dare’s news- Dare should’ve involved Jesse in that instead of springing it on him.
