Product Description

I should have seen it coming.
Sexy? Handsome? Trouble? Check, check, and check.
Is he messing up my life? Hell yes.
All the signs are there: he is a bad boy.
Even his name is a lie. Too bad I married him. I can’t wait to get divorced. Does this make me sound crazy?
I know I should avoid him, run as fast as I can. However, when a harmless misunderstanding lands me in a foreign prison cell, my dear, lying husband is the only one who can get me out. Crap. I shouldn’t accept.

But how to say no to trouble when said trouble is the one who makes me fantasize all the dirty things he could do to me?

***Full-length novel. No cliffhanger.***
Warning of side effects: very bad boy who might cause heart palpitations! This sexy, funny, romantic novel is the last part of the An Indecent Proposal trilogy and can be read as a standalone.

I adored this continuing story of Chase and Laurie (fans of JC Reed and Jackie Steele will remember these two characters from The Interview and The Agreement). Despite this book being part of the An Indecent Proposal series I do believe it holds up as a standalone.

This story opens with a bang - less than 24 hrs of being married Laurie is on the run from her 'fake' husband - the super hot Chase Wright. She escapes to Acapulco Mexico after discovering he's not who she thought he was.
JC and Jackie have continued to construct a story that has plenty of intrigue and will have you guessing as to whether Chase really is the bad guy Laurie now believes him to be. Throughout this story you root for them both to stay together and for Laurie to wake up and see Chase really does care for her. There is plenty of explanatory dialogue between these two and despite their problems you just want them to have a HEA.
There are many twists and turns throughout this story that will keep you on your toes. The only thing I wish this story had was Chases point of view.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this arc and 100% recommend this book.
Bad Boy really does keep you guessing. If you love intrigue and romance then this is the book for you.

This book finished off the series nicely - all ends tied, mysteries solved, twists, unexpected events and an HEA. The setting and circumstances mostly addressed the reveals and there was a lot of explanatory dialogue between Chase and Laurie. They were also given the opportunity to connect, cooperate and develop a real and trusting relationship. Of course, their lust continues, but it's nice to see the love, too

I'm glad I waited until the third book was imminent before I read the series because I think I would've lost the thread, otherwise. It was great to hit all three books without the long frustrating wait.

The only drawbacks, (minor as they were in this book) were that Laurie continued to be indecisive and their conversations were a little repetitive at times. In addition, it would've been fantastic to read a few parts of the story from Chase's view, you know; what made Laurie attractive to him or why he stuck it out? There were also several editing errors throughout the series.

Overall, An Indecent Proposal 1 - 3 was well worth a read. I still felt like I was immersed in a Hitchcock movie right up until the end.

PS Thanks for the bonus novella

There’s no argument that these two authors together make a brill team. After reading book one and two which I thoroughly enjoyed, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Bad Boy. And for the reader, this full-length novel is a gem as one is easily able to read it as a standalone. The most important facts from the two previous books were integrated into this one with skill resulting in a real page-turner. My sleep deprivation was on the cards! Although not without its moments of angst, what I liked more than anything was the banter entwined in a solid plot. Yeah, I’m a total sucker for good dialogue and Ms Reed and Ms Steele made sure that there was plenty of it!

“Let me guess, you want the whole ‘agree to disagree’ cr*p, too?”

I couldn’t make up my mind whether to like or hate Laurie to start off with. At times she’s indecisive and others, stubborn. Slightly introverted, she drove me around the bend but the point I’m making is this. Being lied to and deluded into thinking her husband was who he wasn’t, causes trust issues. It seemed like the only way she could cope was by setting herself rules which I didn’t entirely agree with. She’s a tad daft in the respect that she makes a rash decision complicating things quite a lot, too. When her bestie does the unthinkable, I could have gladly jumped into my Kindle and strangled the one person Laurie had faith in and considered family. Nevertheless, as the story evolves, I realised Jude was literally looking out for her. In fact, I found Jude’s sound advice really encouraging and I liked how she wasn’t judgemental.

3.0 out of 5 stars just ok 27 February 2016

Well this was the conclusion to Chase and Laurie's story. The answer to what Chase has been hiding. I wish I could say it was perfect, but it was not.
Laurie was so weak and unable to stand her ground that I honestly did not like her. Neither her nor Chase could seem to stick to the point of what they wanted to say. He used her and told her he didn't want to feel for her yet he wanted her to stay with him. She was hurt and angry over what he did but she was like an animal in heat with her thoughts. I nearly had hope for her in Chapter 21, she actually had a backbone for 2 seconds, but flip the page and it is gone.
The editing! It was a mess. Each chapter it appeared that someone else was writing it and editing it. There were discrepancies throughout, most notably was everyone asking if Laurie read her mother's letters before she even had possession of them.
Simple errors that should have been noticed by a proof reader, in example, His heat was eradicating from him instead of eradiate., "I glanced at the watch" instead of my watch., having let go one line, yet still embracing them the next, seated next to someone yet saying they were seated opposite, etc..
Yes these seem trivial but when they compound it takes away from the story.
The end of the last chapter before the epilogue was the best part of the book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Like the "Surrender Your Love" trilogy and the series that ... 26 February 2017

Author J.C. Reed has outdid herself with this hot and steamy trilogy introducing us to the main two sensual charachters, Chase and Laurie. Like the "Surrender Your Love" trilogy and the series that followed with Jett and Brook, you'll be hoping that Miss Reed continues with the saga after book 3 of "An Indecent Proposal". Their that good!....(18+).....Devastated after discovering the true motives of a man she fully fell hard for, Lauren "Laurie" Hanson not only fled Los Angeles, but found herself locked away in some Mexican prison. With the heavy burdens of heartbreak, hurt feelings, and utter betrayal by a man she thought she loved, Laurie's first impulse was to run as far away as she could possibly go. Instead, she was not only determined more than ever to erase Chase Wright from her mind forever, but as bad luck would have it, she found herself asking for his help once again. As much as she tried to disengage her emotions towards her fake husband regardless of all the hurt and desperation he put her through, Laurie still couldn't help herself when she found herself in the solace and warmth of Chase's arms, or most importantly, in his bed. She was totally addicted to him and Chase was her drug of all time. Pretending that their still married, Laurie was stunned when she finally figured out that Chase had his own personal demons, especially a well hidden secret that he kept heavily guarded and close to his heart, making her wanting him even more, regardless of the circumstances or where it might lead, but her biggest fear of all, was when the day finally did arrive, and he announced that she no longer needed his acting abilities, causing him to leave her and their sham of a marriage, with him never looking back. He will, wouldn't he? Laurie's only thought was even though she hired him to play the role as her husband to find the answers she took so long to seek, she couldn't help or stop thinking about that one nagging question that still plagued her mind. "Why didn't love come with a warning bell?" As Laurie and Chase's relationship begin to grow, danger still lurked nearby, but once she discovered the truth about Chase, the shocking revelation was too much to bear, forcing her to make a difficult decision. Tired of being lied to, she thought she knew everything there was to know about Chase, but nothing could prepare her for the shock of her life, when her mother's letters finally arrived, revealing the whole solid truth involving all those around her, including Chase Wright himself! Did true happiness just slip right through her fingers forever?....A powerful and enticing trilogy. It's a must-read!....thank you..

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously! 28 July 2016

Let me start off by saying the plot was very good, the characters? Big no no! The chick is as dumb as the ground she walks on. There is absolutely nothing apealing at all about both of them, i really wanted to throw them with an orange on their forheads! Plus some of the scenes in detail didn't make sense, it changed alot. I would seriouly tell this author that this was just blah!!

3.0 out of 5 stars No way is this a standalone novel 2 March 2016
By Midwest Reader - Published on Amazon.com

OK, so there were definitely some editorial problems with this book. Usually that's enough for me to say it's a lousy book, but there weren't THAT many. Still, some proof reading wouldn't have gone amiss.

I was SO looking forward to the conclusion of this story and to find out what on earth was Chase's story. However, not all of it made sense. I think the biggest puzzle to me was that although his family's fortune and property were essentially wiped out, he's suddenly extremely wealthy. Practicing law alone shouldn't have put him in that level of wealth. ?? Did I miss something?

In my review of the previous 2 books, I defended Laurie's actions, but by the third one, her behavior just seems kind of nuts. I can understand her lack of trust, but not her love for Chase actually. But if she supposedly loved him so much, then her actions are just stupid. Somehow the author failed to make any of that very easy to take.

So, my opinion of the final installment is that the whole thing should have been better. The whole Mystery Man in the elevator part just fell flat, and the revenge rationale is tiresome. The bad guy didn't even end up in prison the way he should have!

There is no way this is a standalone novel, even though it's billed as such. If you didn't know the backstory, none of it would make sense!

Somehow I feel a little used and cheated.
4.0 out of 5 stars KEPT ME CONSTANTLY GUESSING 29 March 2016

I really enjoyed this book however at times it got a little repetitive and I started to get bored. Chase's persistence starts to grow on you. It was kinda fun watching his like for Laurie grow into love. At times I was crying so hard I could hardly catch my breath. It seemed like every time poor Laurie turned around something else happened to her. She has the worst luck. She is obviously a strong person to endure all the trials and tribulations she does. Both she and Chase have suffered a lot of loss in their lives. But the surprises that come to light in this book kind of shocked me. I highly recommend this book to everyone. The suspense is intense and the mystery will keep you guessing.
