Product Description

A Little Laughter. A Little Mayhem. A Little MURDER...

For Readers of cozy mysteries, humorous mysteries and police procedurals.

A robbery gone wrong, Detective Joe Rafferty thought, when the latest murder victim, wealthy widow, Clara Mortimer was found battered to death in her home. Then Rafferty learned she wasn’t a widow at all – and her estranged husband was living in the same block under a false name.
But that's not the only suspicious aspect of the case: Clara Mortimer's family add another complication, not eased either by their several deceptions or by the difficulties in Rafferty's personal life, which, as always, seems to be guided by a malign fate and take his eye off the investigatory ball. But could he help it if his automatic reaction when his live-in girlfriend Abra said she might be pregnant, wasn't exactly New Man?
Their investigation brings Rafferty and Llewellyn face to face with just how down and dirty families can be... and not just the families of murder victims.

4.0 out of 5 stars I always enjoy her books - no graphic actual violence 27 July 2016

I always enjoy her books - no graphic actual violence, only its aftermath. No explicit sex - my imagination can do it for me. And she's a tad tongue-in-cheek, which I also enjoy. The personal doesn't intrude too much on the mystery, but pads out the characters for a fuller picture of why they think and behave as they do.

Always an enjoyable read!
4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it, but ..... 11 July 2013

Whilst I enjoyed another good read from Geraldine Evans, we were never told if Clara Mortimer's will was ever found, and if not, who inherited? This tiny point is irritating the goodness out of me as I like all ends neatly tied at the end of a book. Did the no-good husband get the boodle? Did the awful daughter get anything? Would love to know.

Apart from the stated minor irritation, I found the characters well rounded and believable. I found the ending to be her usual surprise to the reader.

The dysfunctional family of suspects will give you a headache, just as they do Rafferty. What a fun ride, and good plot

This is a nice series. Wish Amazon had more issues available. Characters are very likable and the story lines are good
