Product Description

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

I've read hundreds of books and RVD is one of my favourite authors. But I'll be honest with a title like the Bachelor Auction I was hesitant to read it because I thought it would be about the desperate men who were looking for a bride or a one night stand.
I offer my sincerest apologies to Rachel for those thoughts, trust me I regret the time I spent deliberating over reading it. It is NOTHING like I expected and 20 times better than I could have predicted.

Brock was cold when it started and his crazy arsed grandfather was eccentric. Turns out appearances and facades can be so effective you can even fool yourself.
I feel it wasn't as much a journey for Cinderella as it was for her prince but that's ok, I still loved her character and that she didn't slap anyone in the face means she was truely a saint 😉

What I really love and what made me NEED more was the genius scene with Jane and Nadine that explained the reactions to the winners without really giving you enough to actually infer anything in depth and in turn means you need to keep reading the next book, and the one after if the is one, to get to the bottom of the Bachelors of Arizona.

Thanks RVD another awesome read from an extremely skilled artist.

While themes and motifs from the popular children's story Cinderella abound throughout The Bachelor Auction, not least of which being two sisters whose internal uglyness reminded me of the Disney movie the instant they were introduced, and shoe left behind at a ball, still, Rachel Van Dyken has a very different story to tell.

Rather than a story of a girl trapped by poverty and circumstances and a Prince who comes to her rescue, this is instead a tale of two people equally trapped in prisons of their own making.

Both bound by the constraints they'd placed on themselves in the depths of their grief, neither finds themselves living a life they could truly call their own until fate, and a "fairy Godfather" intervene.

To be honest, I was amazed at the depth of sensitivity with which this story dealt with the major theme of loss and the kinds of ways people respond, whether it be guilt, or a sense of duty to those who are no longer with us, all the while keeping the vibe of a true (and really funny) romantic comedy.

The hero gets attacked by a cock, the heroine befriends an ass, while families band together and get torn apart in a stormy clash of comedy and drama. Meanwhile, as a special treat for fans, Grandma Nadine (that readers might remember from The Bet series, makes an appearance just when everything is already mixed up.

Be ready to be assaulted by emotion after emotion even while laughing out loud, and if you're not the type to use your sleeves like me ... bring tissues.

Yes! I new series from RVD! And to me, this woman can do no wrong!

And with The Bachelor Auction, she has written a whimsical homage to Cinderella - complete with horrible sisters!

Jane has been the doormat to her two spoilt sisters for years. Gah, I wanted to shake some sense into her in the hopes that she would grow a backbone and tell these two witches where to go.

Then again, if it wasn't for the two beastly sisters, she would never have met her Prince Charming, the rich and beautiful Brock Wellington.

Actually, at times I wished that he would grow a pair and stand up to his grandfather! So they really were as bad as each other throughout!

But all of it is nothing when it comes to the two of them together -there is laughter and hijinx, sass and snark. And OMG the heat between them is through the roof.

And when Brock's brothers become more involved in things - things become awkward at times, but downright hilarious too. And what is it with Ms Van Dyken's characters and the trouble they have with animals.

The thing I was most excited about when the story progressed, and the name Titus was mentioned... would we see any of Grandma Nadine? And I am pleased to say she makes an appearance and is as outrageous as ever!

Through it all, I just hoped, needed to know that this Cinderalla had found her Prince Charming.

But to find out you will have to read for yourself.

Ms Van Dyken is one of my must read authors. It doesn't if she is writing her mafia boys or her romantic comedies, everything I have picked up I have adored.

Now I can't wait to see what she does with Brant and Bentley!

The Bachelor Auction is a fun modern-day Cinderella romance as well as rom-com that had me laughing frequently. I loved the way the author took a traditional story and gave it some twists to be uniquely her own!

Jane is the owner of Cinderella Cleaning, essentially a maid. Her sisters, despite being lawyers, are just plain awful and treat Jane very much like a personal servant. Brock is a billionaire and one of the well-known faces of the Wellington dynasty. They meet at a party when Jane breaks a shoe and nearly gets trampled. Brock sweeps her off her feet, literally, and buys her a new pair of shoes. I'm sure you can see where all this is going...

Overall, I liked both Jane and Brock. Their characters were well developed, albeit a bit frustrating; sometimes I really wanted to slap some sense into them. Both of them were too wishy-washy and total pushovers when it came to their families. In all honesty, I kind of liked the twins, Brant and Bentley, more than Brock at times. While they were a bit wild and out of control, at least they weren't living their lives for someone else. I was super excited by the cameo of a beloved character from another of Van Dyken's series! I was nearly bouncing up and down with excitement when I got to that part of the book!

The plot was steady and full of laughs. I read it straight through because I just couldn't put it down. I just had to get to the traditional "happily ever after."

This was not my first book by Rachel Van Dyken, and it certainly won't be my last. I fell in love with her writing and have become a big fan. The Bachelor Auction did not disappoint.

I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium.
