Product description
In 14th century Scotland, the English nobles are staking their claim for lands and the Scottish throne. When William Wallace is left an orphan by the brutality of the English, he vows to make Scotland strong again.Wallace grows up into a paradox of a man - on the one hand very well educated, on the other a ruthless killer and barbarian. As an adult he succeeds in uniting the Scottish clans to fight the English oppressors, and is only undone by betrayal and greed.Mel Gibson directs this multi-Oscar winning epic, and also stars as folk hero Wallace.

Won't Play On Sony UBP-X800
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 December 2018Verified Purchase
Just a heads up this disk causes my Sony UBP-X800 to freeze. I don't even get to see anything. It freezes on load and the only way I can make the player responsive again is to unplug the power. This has nothing to do with Regions as Amazon have confirmed it is correct. Amazon have also replaced the disk and the new one is exactly the same. Sony support just say "In reference to your enquiry about Brave Heart disc which doesn’t play, kindly note that after investigation in your case, we can confirm that it’s a disc issue. Kindly refer to 20th Century Fox who should provide a replacement disc".

Freedom In 4K !!!!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 November 2018Verified Purchase
One of favourite movies of all time-so I had to buy the 4k disc . I had the Blu-ray of Braveheart and it was great -but the 4k version is even better . You get two Blu-Ray Discs along with the 4K disc-which is great value for money . The 4K version of Braveheart has beautifully enhanced colour, tone etc . It takes you closer to the action and has ATMOS for enhanced sound . This would make a great double bill alongside new Robert The Bruce movie "Outlaw King" which is brilliant and a must see.

Classic epic movie
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 October 2020Verified Purchase
This was my favourite film back in 1995, went to the cinema around 6 times to see it. Twenty five years on, it is a great example of film-making at it's best.
I can now see this is not a historically accurate documentary on William Wallace, but a fictional adaptation of his life. As long as the viewer realises this, they should enjoy it. Patrick McGoohan gives a great performance as King Edward I.
Blu-Ray picture quality is stunning.
Still one of my favourite films of all time.

4k DISC PLAYS WELL ON SONY X800M2 WITH STUNNING PICTURE
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 May 2020Verified Purchase
We were cautious about this 4k disk playing ok as we own the mark 2 version of Sonys X800 UHD player and had read other reviews about there being problems. The new disc was cleaned with a microphibre cloth prior to playing.
Once the disc began we had no problems at all and can report that Braveheart has a stunning 4k picture which shows a definite upkick in detail from the standard blu ray. There is a very fine filmic grain that is barely noticeable and the colours (although very blue in hue) are deep and rich with green and reds really popping.
The Dolby Atmos track is ok.... not as good as that on Blade Runner (which is unbelievable) or the Harry Potter DTSX but is certainly wide and engulfing....
Well worth the trade up from standard blu ray.

Not a dry eye in the house.

As self determination for an ancient country comes into view for Scotland again, it isn't surprising this film was a hit around the world with countries aiming for the same thing. Although historically inaccurate at times, it was inspirational to many.
