Bosu Balance Trainer
What is the Bosu Balance Trainer?
Bosu Balance Trainer is known industry-wide as a versatile fitness device that delivers killer cardio workouts, builds strength, improves balance and flexibility, and fine-tunes sport skills. It consists of an inflated rubber dome attached to a rigid platform. The Bosu name is an acronym for Both Sides Utilized which refers to its versatility as a training device. Using the Bosu Balance Trainer dome side up provides an ever-changing, unstable, dynamic surface while the device itself remains stable. This element of instability is what creates the added challenge during exercises and is what makes Bosu so effective, and fun, as a fitness device. Flip the Bosu over and use dome side down to discover even more exercises.
What the Bosu Balance can do for you
The Bosu Balance Trainer targets the core muscles of your body helping you to not only gain strength, trim and tone, but to strengthen the entire body and improve balance. The Bosu Balance Trainer delivers an ever-changing dynamic surface that you can stand on, jump on, kneel on, and lay on, to perform exercises to train and challenge every part of your body. The Bosu Balance Trainer helps to increase body strength and improve balance, coordination and body awareness which means overall improved fitness and fewer injuries. Because the Bosu Balance Trainer is impossible to master, it means endless exercise options as strength and ability increase. And, because of its small size and weight it makes a great addition to any home gym and fits easily into any fitness program.
Using the Bosu Balance Trainer
It’s easy to get started with the Bosu by simply following the exercises in the owner’s manual. Each of the exercises uses balance and stabilization techniques to challenge the cardiovascular system, muscle strength, endurance and flexibility. The manual includes proper modifications for both beginners and more advanced users so that workouts are appropriate for any fitness level. Or, follow along to one of the workouts in the included DVD or the Bonus DVD that features the Xplode Cross-Training Series. Bosu training DVDs that feature longer workouts with more challenging exercises and sport-specific options are also available on Amazon.

Exercising with the Bosu Balance Trainer
Using the Bosu Balance Trainer while doing weight training exercises increases the challenge and helps to build strength faster. Add hand-held weights while lying on the Bosu to perform arm, shoulder and chest exercises. Stand on the Bosu to perform squats, lunges or other leg exercises. The increased weight forces the engagement of more muscles and helps to improve strength. Push-ups on the Bosu Balance Trainer can be performed dome side up or dome side down depending on the intensity desired.
Every time you walk your body must maintain balance to stay upright and prevent falls. Balance happens when you control the body over changing terrain like sidewalks, steps, yards and running trails. Using the Bosu Balance Trainer forces you to maintain your center of gravity while performing any exercise and is an excellent way to prepare and tone your body for everyday life, athletic skills and help prevent injury.
Certain yoga poses can easily be performed with the Bosu Balance Trainer to add increased difficulty or bring improved flexibility, while basic moves like downward dog, half moon and standard forward fold can be easier by incorporating the Bosu into the poses.
Fine-Tune Sport Skills
Incorporate the Bosu Balance Trainer when doing plyometric drills to improve both speed and power. The Bosu Balance Trainer helps to exert maximum force for short intervals for improvement in sports like tennis, football, basketball and skiing.

UPDATED TO ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I emailed the manufacturer directly, supplied them the receipt invoice from Amazon as well as the serial number on the ball, and they are shipping me a replacement. It's nice to know there are still manufacturers out there that stand behind their product.
I read all the review: I selected the Home BOSU which is indeed perfect. It is well made and sturdy plus it is $50.00 cheaper than the Pro version. I am really glad I chose the Home version. The difference betweens the Home version and the Pro version is the Home version has little rubber stopper feet on the black part to prevent slipping. The rubber dome ball on the Home version is made with 2 lbs less rubber than the Pro version and the box on the home version only says BOSU it does not say Pro nor does it say Home. Also the black part of the Pro version is lined with rubber to prevent slipping and it does not have feet. The thickness of the home version is definitely adequate to prevent it from busting as long as you stay within the weight limits as described. (300 lbs)
Some reviews complain that the home BOSU falls apart. If this is a concern for you be careful when you air up your new BOSU. The directions say to fill it to "about" 10" high. However, for me I am filling it to 9.5" which seemed very full. Use common sense. If you are on the heavy side or plan to jump on the BOSU and it seems pretty full at 9" high maybe you don't add the last 1/2 inch of air. Also when you fill the ball make sure that you are holding it level when you take the measurement. You can always add the last 1/2 inch of air if the ball seems too empty when you try it out for the first time.
Some reviews complain that the BOSU has a bad odor. Well..... it is a brand new rubber ball. It does have an odor that smells just like a brand new rubber ball.
I do wish Amazon would require sellers to give more specific details on which BOSU they are selling. I recommend avoiding venders who do not clearly specify their products.
First the bad. Wanted to get a Bosu ball for my home since using a commercial one at my gym. Nothing beats it for strengthening, isometric and balance exercise. The ball arrived and would not hold air when I pumped it up. Frustrated, I looked at the reviews that mentioned this problem and found the 800 number for manufacturer.
Now the good. I talked to a company representative and she immediately processed a warranty for me and I had a new Bosu on my doorstep in two business days.
Can't explain why some of these balls are defective but I can say with confidence that the manufacturer stands behind their product. I've been using the Bosu ball for a week now with no issues.
