Product description

Product Description

Z-list celebrity Nikolai Capri should be happy. He has been given the holiday of a lifetime aboard a luxury yacht. Instead, he behaves like a spoilt child, causing the crew to take an instant dislike to him. Sparks begin to fly between him and a crew member and, on a stormy night, the pair have an aggressive argument. Little do they know that they are being watched from the water by a young mermaid who is about to change Nikolai's life forever.

This modern re-telling of Hans Christian Anderson's "The Little Mermaid" re-captures the tragedy of the classic tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Of Mermaids and Men 22 September 2014

In Sophie Bowns' Azure, we meet Cordelia, the mermaid, and soon find out about her interest in the yound and dashing, Nikolai. Yet Nikolai's affections are reserved for Jenna, a fact that leads Cordelia to actions endangering he love of her life. Only then does she see the error of her ways but can she resolve the situation before it is too late? Sophie Bowns takes great care in conveying the emotions of her characters. I highly recommend this work filled with adventure, fantasy, and romance for everyone.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great take on a classic. 5 September 2014

The author created a wonderful "current-day" twist on an old classic being "The Little Mermaid." Ms. Bowns does a wonderful job portraying societal struggles when it comes to fame popularity, and the emphasis placed on how people "look." Throughout the story, the various plot twists have you wanting to keep reading as you don't know what to anticipate. She does a fine job laying out the characters and her strength comes not only from her keen display of painting a scene with in depth details, but her portrayal of emotions through dialogue. Her strong character development as the story plays out helps as well as from the beginning where I tended to be against Nik where by the end I was pulling for him to make it through (which may or may not happen) it is a tale that rides the waves of an emotional roller coaster from start to finish.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's not easy to take a classic fairy tale and manipulate it 16 September 2014

It's not easy to take a classic fairy tale and manipulate it...Sophie Bowns has been brave enough to face this challenge and bring home the score!
New set, new location for an ever-green story, accurate descriptions and thrilling situations.
And even some little lack in the script is forgivable, because it is filled up with a great ending.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had interesting characters, a good story and was a quick read. If you want a good book to read on a summer vacation, look no further.
