When I first got my Kendal, this book was the first I searched for, but at the time was unavailable at the time.
I’m so happy to now having found it.
This is a good book to introduce any new reader to the fantasy genera.
I have read better since I was young, but it’s still one of my favourites.
It has a good sense of mystery and adventure with just a touch of good humour.
If you want to read more of the trilogy once you have read Azura Bonds, then you won’t be disappointed with the next two books ether.
But it holds up well on its own as I believe it was whiten to introduce the reader to the world of Dungeons and dragons.
You won’t need to know the game to understand this story, in fact in my opinion it helps if you don’t as the story pushes you along without needing to know any of Forgotten realms series.
Good book to start with, enjoy.

Her name is Alias and she is in big trouble. - She is a sell-sword, a warrior-for-hire, and an adventuress. She awoke with a series of twisting, magical blue sigils inscribed on her arms and no memory of where she got them. - Determined to learn the nature of the mysterious tattoos, Alias joins forces with an unlikely group of companions: the Halfling bard Ruskettle, the southern mage Akabar, and the oddly silent lizard-man Dragonbait. With their help she discovers that the symbols hold the key to her very existence. But those responsible for the sigils aren't keen on Alias's continued good health. And if the five evil masters find her first, she may discover all too soon their hideous secret.

There’s something to say about classic Dungeons and Dragons fantasy novels like this. Such great stories, both mature and innocent at the same time.

A thoroughly enjoyable fantasy novel that although it's set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe it is a completely self contained story and doesn't require any knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons.

Good story, one of the first DnD old school games I played.

I have always loved this book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 April 2013Verified Purchase
I bought this book from W H Smith as a brand new paperback more than 20 years ago and loved it. I still have it and keep going back to read it again about every 2 years. I still love it. It is a classic swords and sorcery type adventure with the main character, Alias, being a woman in search of her missing memories and the origin of four tatoos on her arm. Along the way, she meets an assortment of beings who become her friends, Dragonbait - a Soreal, Akbar - a trader and Magician, Olive - a halfling thief pretending to be a Bard, as well as enemies like Mist - the dragon. I'd add more, but don't want to spoil the suspense of Alias's eventual unravelling of the mysteries surrounding her.
If you enjoy a good adventure and appreciate strong female leads, with a lot of magic and swordfights thrown in, then this is definitely worth the money. I love this book so much that I have requested it and been looking for it as a Kindle edition for the last few years and now that it is finally available, I bought it. Immediately.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I still do.
