Product description

Product Description

A heavily damaged alien research vessel in the Andromeda galaxy is hurtling toward a planet. The aliens should not be there. They have been traveling through space and time, abducting apex predators and sticking them in virtual simulations for research. The problem is the virtual simulations are powering down, unleashing the specimens on the ship.

Dr. Albert Snowden and his niece, Emily, were abducted by the aliens. They are visited by a mysterious being named Evaran in the last minutes of the virtual simulation. He has decided to interfere in this timeline-changing event and rescue them.

Stopping the ship from crashing into the planet before getting to Evaran's ship is one issue. Navigating the apex predators on the loose is another. To make matters worse, Jerzan Graduul, infamous leader of the Bloodbore mercenary pack, has boarded the ship in search of salvage opportunities, and has noticed Evaran's ship. The hunt begins.

This is the story of Dr Snowden and his niece Emily, who have been abducted by aliens and taken aboard a huge starship. The thing is, they have no idea, as they were taken and placed in a holographic reality in which time dilates and passes slower for them. As such, they have continued to live on with their normal lives. This is until one day, a stranger arrives called Evaran. He tells them that what has happened, and that the ship they are on has been damaged and that they are in danger. They have been left in the ship along with a multitude of other species that have also been abducted. I don’t want to give away too much, but the adventure that unfolds as Dr Snowden, Emily, Evaran, and the others they meet along the way is truly amazing. Hart has written a fantastic Sci-fi book that is a brilliant read, full of thrilling adventure, exceptional characters and some really outstanding writing.
This is a really fun and engaging story, just what good Sci-Fi should be.
If you want a great story that is easy to read, this is definitely worth the read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting first scifi story. 14 January 2016
By Mark Gardner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
When I saw The Awakening on NetGalley, it didn’t jump out at me. I didn’t even request it the first time I saw it. I eventually did, and this is a fun SciFi adventure.

The story is not without its flaws, though. The dialog seemed stilted, and the “flow” of the story wasn’t as smooth as I’ve come to expect from SciFi adventures. Also, there was a lot of repetition in the story, including many “I” statements that are so common in first-person narratives. Finally, much of the action was a result of coincidence, and Evaran solved problems with some doo-dad or gizmo that exactly resolved the situation.

I’d be interested in checking out the sequel, The Fredorian Destiny, to see what the author will do with the series. Over all, I’d rate this story 3.5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a wild ride that doesn't stop (and if you like "Dr. Who") - this is a must series 16 November 2016
By Clinton Sites - Published on Amazon.com

I will be looking to acquire the other novels in this series as it grabbed my attention from the start - and threw just enough non-understandable super science in to hold it through the whole novel. Once it started it just wouldn't stop!

The main characters in the novel were well developed by the author- I am impressed with their development as you never know how you will react to a situation until it actually occurs.
The protagonist of the series (Evaran) is just as complex as Dr. Who or Sherlock Holmes (as played in the show 'Elementary') with fairly inscrutable reasons for his actions. Following the development of this character and seeing where the author goes with the series IMHO will bear monitoring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very different from the standard Alien Invasion and abduction type story. 2 December 2016
By Bruce G - Published on Amazon.com

Strictly different from the standard Alien abduction type of story. The humans have been awakened by an extremely unexpected human looking alien who tells them that they have been abducted by some extremely unpleasant and deadly aliens that are now dead. He is going to escort them through the ship that they are on to his ship but they will be in danger of the other abductees as they are not necessarily going to be friendly and are most likely to be extremely vicious and deadly. Their trip through the most horrible and deadly enemies abound in this story with the death of all of them very possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Who on steroids 4 March 2016
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I received this book for free in exchange for a truthful review. This is the first free book i have ever given 5 stars and must say that every page kept my attention . Slam bang from start to finish. Complaints include being too short and a little rushed, but otherwise it was a good story (Dr Who on steroids ). I have already purchased book 2.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome! 19 April 2017

Evaran, our main character, has the same altruistic behavior shown by Doctor Who and goes about investigating time rifts and alien abductions. However, where the Doctor is campy, this is pure space fiction and it is good! You can read from others how the story goes, I will just give you my reactions to the story. I love space science fiction and this book has everything except an epic navy battle: aliens galore, abducted humans, human-like aliens, a crashing ship, & space pirates! I admit that the blurb about vampires and werebears on earth was hohum to me but it was the only paragraph in the whole book that was not awesome. Get this one, get the series, I have!
