The only issue is that the volume of these headphones doesn't go very loud. Some bluetooth devices will drive them slightly louder than others, but there isn't much difference. It's great that they have a battery life of up to 40 hours, but i'd be happy with 20 hours if I could have just a little extra volume. An option to use an attachable cable would have been a useful feature.
But all of that aside, these are very decent headphones for the price if unlike me, you don't like destroying your ear drums.
Review was initially 4*
At Update #3 it became 3*
At Update #4 it became 2*
Great sound quality - I'm not much of an audiophile but it's a subjective thing, and I found them perfect for me.
Highest volume is good enough.
Lack of features (ANC, Multipoint, AUX/wired usage).
Plastic build but has metal components (in the headband).
Look good, but I expected them to be bigger (might solve the comfort thing).
Bluedio T4 Turbine - had a lot of features but were heavy and had software glitches. I wanted a pair that would last, and couldn't trust that. Sound had higher highs, and ANC degraded sound quality.
JBL Tune 600BTNC - awkward but present wired connectivity (use 2.5mm instead of 3.5mm), decent ANC, emphasis on lows (which I like), good build but earpads didn't last a year.
Battery lasts a good while (I haven't charged them yet, regular use at least an hour a day when I go for walks)
Slight issues with sound cutting even when the phone is close to them (might be a Bluetooth 4 thing)
I bought these for two qualities: build and audio.
They definitely satisfy the audio.
Build is good, but not the best (they don't *completely* fold, headband adjustment got loose after some use albeit that isn't a problem for me - big head).
I've used these moderately yet, and the battery is pretty good for me. I received them on 31st May, and today (13th July) is the second time I've fully charged them. So if you use them about an hour or two a day (sometimes I leave them connected to my laptop for long periods), you could expect 15-20 days on a full charge.
Update #3: (3rd November, 2020)
Today the earpads show signs of wearing out, and it's just been 5 months yet. I'm disappointed really, I took a lot of care - didn't leave them with sweat, and used them just moderately. I wanted a set that would last at least a year (JBL, and most of the others I've used easily did), and hopefully close to 2, and these didn't deliver on that.
I'll contact the service center/customer care now and see how that goes. They're still in warranty (1 year thankfully). But most probably I'll be looking at something similar right after warranty ends.
So now I'll recommend the JBL Tune600 BTNC over this to you (in the 4k-5k range). Out of all the ones I've tried, they're loud enough, good enough, and have a good build (but JBL does NOT provide earpads separately, and it's difficult to find a set suitable for these online, so expect them to last a year with normal use). The ANC feature is not good to be honest, but it does reduce fan noise considerably, and audio quality does improve with it on (bass).
Update #4: (Issue since Nov 2020, Updated 25 March 2021)
The warranty is very, very sketchy. I could NOT claim warranty or talk directly to a representative after trying:
• The number on their website - the person who picked up said they don't service anymore and to "check the website"
• I contacted the seller, TPS Technologies (respected), they gave me a number for a centre in Chennai. Their reply was that *they can't service remotely*, they didn't understand my issue well or give me a clear reply on whether it is covered or not. They told me to write a mail with all the details.
• They did not reply to the email.
I am disappointed. Would not recommend. A good product is bad without service, especially promised service.
After pairing with my google slate the sound quality was good. They are a bit tight on the head and so a bit uncomfortable.
My main issue was having to re pair after changing from a second tablet and my phone. Going back to the original tablet I found it would not pair for some reason.
I use both of my tablets and my phone with headphones at different times and as I don't listen to music on the go , I have returned the headphones and purchased a replacement with a lead , not wireless..
The battery life is also brilliant.
There are only a few negatives (one of which can be seen as a positive as well):
- It's a bit too tight. This is good if you plan to do some sporting/running in it, but it can be a bit uncomfortable after a couple hours of continuous usage.
- No passive mode/jack connector. This can be annoying if you want to use it with other devices and don't want to disconnect - pair - disconnect - pair every time you switch a device
- Can only be paired to one device at a time.
