Product description

Product Description

The case of James Ashby versus Peter Slipper transfixed a nation, caused daily headlines and almost brought down a Government.

An ex-DJ with a criminal record versus the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives; a tale of power, sex, and betrayal.

Who was plotting in the background to try to bring down the Speaker and, through him, the teetering Gillard Government?

Find out about the Californian iron-girl, the former Howard Government minister with designs on Slipper’s seat and the QC who helped things along.

After a two-year long investigation funded by hundreds of outraged ordinary Australians, private investigator Ross Jones reveals the truth behind the scandal known as Ashbygate.

To support the previous 3 star review, the kindle version is very difficult to read and doesn't follow the format that was outlined in the first section. If one was coming into this story cold they would give up after a couple of chapters.

Irrespective of the formatting issue, the book provides a detailed timeline of the Ashbygate saga and supports the now widely held view that outing Slipper from the speaker's chair was a setup.

It was difficult to distinguish between quotes, diary entries and the author's text. A good story spoiled by poor typesetting.

A very good read indeed, but the formatting lets it down. Very poorly laid out and, as such, it's difficult to follow at times. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the future.
