I finished this last night with a HUGE grin on my face and happiness lifting my mood. I have been feeling a little down the last few days and these books have been just want I needed, they have me giggling like a teenager and feeling such a deep sense of excitement when these characters turn their lives around. Not just because they have found love but because they are strong and put in the hard work to make their lives better. I am just enjoying these novels so much. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
When it comes to RomCom, nobody does it better than R.S. Grey. Between her quirky characters, their quick-witted banter, and their absolutely winning personalities, it’s a recipe for success. I knew the moment I started ‘Arrogant Devil’ that this was my kind of read. ‘Arrogant Devil’ was the perfect wicked slow burn with dynamic characters, and a plotline that hits you in the feels, like RS Grey has perfected. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon, just losing yourself in the pages.
Talk about getting off on the wrong foot.Jack and Meredith are instant enemies... so their love story is utterly hilarious.
Meredith leaves her horrible husband however with no money, no clothes, and absolutely no place to go, she’s in more than a bind. Thanks to her step-sister, she ends up in Texas, at Bluestone Ranch. There she meets Jack, the biggest arrogant ass under the sun. He’s tainted by preconceived notions of who Meredith is, he’s ready to give this California Princess a run for her money. He wants her to quit and leave him alone. But as often happens not all is what it seems...
If you need a good laugh...or twenty and you need a swoon, R. S. Grey flawlessly achieves each. Reading the internal thoughts of Meredith was fabulous - I loved her! Jack had no choice but to fall for her determined and audacious ways. I adored every moment of this tug of war.
I planned to read a couple of pages, just to get started. Next thing I know it’s 4am and I’m 71% in.... I couldn’t put it down! Jack and Meredith are now my favourite characters. The banter between them is funny, flirty and relatable. I really connected with them and their sidekick, Edith provided a hilarious addition to the story. I love the “life turns to crap so I’ll turn it all around and be awesome” type of books and this does is brilliantly! I had the dilemma of not wanting to finish but also never wanting it to end! I hope to read more about Jack and Meredith in the future! Or I’ll just read Arrogant devil again....and again....and again! 5 stars from me!
Like all books of this type the friction between these two to start was amazing & kept you wanting more. However of course when they connect even with the chemistry it settles down & loses that impact. But that's how it goes for it to become a romance. I didn't mean this negatively but after the fireworks it died down for me. It was very touching esp with all the assumptions that were made about Meredith & the life she escaped from. I admired her spirit & how she coped with her destitution. There are some good secondary characters making it an enjoyable read. Jack had his demons & I understood his aloofness. Don't let my first statement put you off as it is a very well written & heartwarming read.
This was my first RS Grey read and I loved it. So much so that I am now working my way through all her books. How did I not know about such a great writer! Her characters are funny, yes (actually really hilarious at times) but they also pulled me in which is so rare with many of the books out now. Wanted the HEA as always but didn't want it to end either. Definitely a keeper to read again.
I've just reread this because I'm hitting a book brick wall ATM and it's a sweet enough story and I do like cowboy stories. It isn't the best of R S Grey's books but that brick wall might be influencing my current lack of book love.
Meredith Wilchester is not the poor little rich girl everyone seems to think she is. Ok, she’s way down on her luck… not forgetting down to her last buck, In any case, she’s resilient and determined to make her own way. Leaving the life and marriage behind in only the clothes she stands in, the only place she can think to go is to see her estranged step sister, Helen. They may not have the closest of relationships but she’ll take their tentative relationship over that of her tension-fraught marriage anyday.
Any hopes of being received in open arms are quickly dashed when she discovers her sister is living la belle vie while her home renovations take place. With her outlook looking bleaker by the minute, If nothing but tenacious, Meredith manages to wrangle herself a job filling in for her sister whilst she’s away. She isn’t concerned that she hasn’t had a job in... well ever, but she’s excited about the door of opportunity being opened for her.
Jack McNight takes great pleasure in slamming the door in the face of the hapless princess on his porch. Overdressed and under qualified the last thing he wants to do is babysit his executive assistant’s younger sister. From the little he’s heard she’s pampered with a capital P, but he soon finds he can add persistent and pushy to the list too.
R.S. Grey once again delivers a devilishly good enemies to lovers romance filled with quirky humour and sexual tension rivalling the Texas heat. Although an enjoyable read, there where a few niggles that held me back from higher rating.
This a sweet fun story that leaves you with a huge smile across your face and warms your heart. I loved the journey to happiness for Jack and Meredith. It's definitely a slow burn and I enjoyed both characters throughout the story, I wasn't expecting Jack to be so cautious, I found that cute, and I loved Meredith's resilience.
This book is fabulous clean romance that is high on humor, quirkiness, and hilarious banter too! And it's set in Texas, what can I say? :-)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!
P.S. I don't think the cover makes the story justice. It's such a shame the cover has nothing to do with the story, I almost wanted to take out a star because of that but I felt it wasn't fair for the writer. I wish they had chosen something more related.
What a cute book! Just loved the storyline and the setting and how things unfolded between the two characters. It was a little bit lacking in the drama (was expecting a bigger scene from the ex) but other than that it was a cute romantic read.
I usually love RS Greys covers and titles but I’m struggling with this one. I don’t see how the cover relates to the story. And the title doesn’t connect for me, I actually forgot what this one was about when looking at the title
